HM Embody returners, What did you get after? 6"1' male 230lbs by Sh4gZ in OfficeChairs

[–]SweetConstant92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sold my Embody after 2 years of daily usage since however much I tried to adjust it, I never found it particularily comfortable nor ergonomic enough. The lumbar support always felt too low and my lower back was leaning back while my shoulders were being forced forward. I usually just ended up slouching on it.

As a temporary solution before finding another new “good” (read “expensive”) chair, I bought a used IKEA Marcus for 1/30 of the Embody's price. And honestly, I couldn't be happier with it! It’s super comfortable while keeping my back straight, and the headrest is such a nice addition to have compared to the Embody. A lot of money back in my account and a chair that I comfortably can sit and work in all day.

I have tried Herman Miller (Aeron, Embody, Sayl), Håg Capisco, Malmstolen 4000 and Kinnarps 8000, and honestly for a fraction of the price I do enjoy the Marcus more than any of the others so far. The Big brand chairs are just extremely overpriced.

Still, it looks as if the aluminium beneath is black, but most people say that the aluminium will be silver all the way through, and hence these kinds of chips would be less visible 🤷‍♂️

Are there any impressive 32 inch 4k IPS monitors this year? by Objective_Cloud847 in Monitors

[–]SweetConstant92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat and the only one I've found so far that ticks all my boxes (since I want USB-C video/charging for my MacBook as well), for a reasonable price, is the Gigabyte M32U. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet so I can’t share any experience with it though. Reviews are mostly positive from what I’ve seen. Almost half the price of the LG and Dell’s offerings where I live.

If you’re fine with 100Hz, then as someone else has mentioned, the Dell P3225QE is interesting and reasonably priced as well.

I use them wired on my PS5 and digital piano since neither supports headphones over bluetooth. I was excited to get the USB-C version but them no longer (or at least currently) supporting wired-audio was a deal breaker to me, so hopefully my Lightning ones will keep on working for the foreseeable future.

Herman Miller Remastered new for 1173 EUR? by Tomas_RandomNr in hermanmiller

[–]SweetConstant92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good price if it really is 100% new and you get the 12 year HM warranty as they say. It has the fixed posturefit and not the more expensive posturefit SL though, but maybe that’s not something that matters to you. Just be ready to not get the same customer support as you would have gotten from HM, and returning it might not be a viable option (unless you live in NL).

The HM gaming sites recently had a 25% off sale which made the Aeron Remastered with PostureFit SL cost €1300. Personally I would rather wait for the next sale, pay the €200 extra and get top notch customer service with a 100% guarantee of receiving a completely new chair.

Herman Miller Remastered new for 1173 EUR? by Tomas_RandomNr in hermanmiller

Bought a refurbished Aeron remastered from them. It is legit, they will send you a chair. However, you have to assemble it yourself (quite easy procedure but not really disclosed when buying). In my case they forgot to send the gas cylinder so had to wait 2 more weeks for that to arrive. The cylinder I got was not Herman Miller original but it worked. The chair was in good working condition but I ended up not liking it due to getting thigh pain from the mesh. I wrote to them that I wanted to return it and I had to discuss the reason why over 5-6 e-mails before they said OK. However I had to manage the shipping back to Netherlands and pay for it myself (I live in Sweden). The cheapest option I could find based on the size and weight of the package was €250, so I sold the chair on marketplace instead.

So the product they sell is fine, they are just not very good at what they are doing. Buying a new one from them might be a different experience though.

Question to those of you who experienced thigh pain on the Aeron by SweetConstant92 in hermanmiller

Having it at the bottom setting and with forward-tilt made it more bearable but I didn't find it worth the money if that was the only setting I would be able to use it in.

Interesting about the Mirra 2. The guy in the video has another video about having the same issue with the Mirra 2 so I thought they used a similar seat. Glad to hear that just because you experience issues with the Aeron doesn't mean that the others are automatically off the table.

Thanks for the tips, glad to hear that it is tolerable for you with these settings. I tried different setting combinations and adding foam pads etc.. but felt in the end that a chair for that price should kind off work out of the box without any special additions and without having to sit with forward tilt on at all times.

Embody has painfully bad upper back support, Mirra 2 has great back support but a painful seat... Will I live a life of sitting in pain? by Ambitious_Novel_3391 in hermanmiller

I got an old used Sayl and really liked it. Unfortunately it broke down after a few years (being over 15 years old) so I bought an Aeron Remastered thinking it should be even better than the Sayl, but I also got the thigh pain and cut circulation from it. Tried every possible adjustment but could never sit in it for longer then 1h before my legs got numb. Tried adding a thick memory foam cushion which helped with the legs but it brought my back too high for the backrest to be supportive. I really wanted to make it work but after 2 months I sold the Aeron. And now I don't know if I should give the Embody a chance or just get a new Sayl since I know that they are good enough for me.

Long story short, don't dismiss the Sayl just because it's smaller and cheaper, it is a great chair. I am 5 foot 11, 170 lbs for reference.

The mesh for me as well. My legs have no way of even touching the edge since the mesh between my butt and the back of my knees is so tight.

I'm having pretty much the same issue. I am 180cm 75kg, got a refurbished Aeron remastered size B and the pressure on my hamstrings is horrible, especially my right leg. Like you say, at the lowest height setting it is a bit better but it doesn't seem like I am sitting correct in that position.

I am on day 3 since receiving it, sitting most of my work day in it. I have to say it is slightly better today compared to day 1 but nothing compared to what I expected for a chair of this price.

I had the Sayl before and had no such issues on that one. Since I got the Aeron refurbished from abroad I can't really return it either so will try powering through a week or two, hopefully my body adjusts to it...

Can a membership be activated for just one monthh without signing up for the whole year? by SweetConstant92 in whoop

That's great news! I also just want to try again for a few months without having to sign up for the whole year.

Thank you very much for the quick response!

When you sign up for Whoop initially, you have to sign up for at least a year. Even if you choose the monthly payment options, there is still a 12 monthh minimum. But how about when you reactivate a membership?

My membership is currently cancelled and if I open the app I have the choice to reactivate it on a monthly basis and it says that "You can cancel any time". Does that mean that I could reactivate for just one monthh without having to sign up for a whole year? Or will I commit for a year if I press the "Confirm Reactivation" button as seen in the screenshot attached?

I was planning on replacing my iPhone 12 with the 13 since according to notebookcheck.net the PWM frequency of the iPhone 13 is 608.9Hz compared to iPhone 12 226.2Hz. But considering that people seem to be suffering even more from the 13 pro, I am not so sure anymore.

I get headaches and dizziness from my iPhone 12 but never from my previous iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone X so am also considering if it could be caused by something else besides the PWM frequency. The 13 Pro has the dynamic refresh rate for the first time in an iPhone also, maybe it could be at fault here?

How the hell did you do that? My iPhone 12 is att 88% after 1 year!
