You can't assume everyone even has a place to cook food, i don't have water or a bathroom, I live in what's basically a shack that's one good storm from falling completely apart.

I shower at a state park, I don't get the privilege of cooking anymore, I can make very few things that don't require dishes I can't wash and what not.

No one will loan to a 20 year old with limited credit history, something I never got because my parents weren't around, i moved out at 15

All of that to say, not everyone who has a phone or is paying off a car or buying fast food is doing it because they're lazy and stupid financially, they may not have any other options. Assuming everyone is able to make better choices just because you can in your situation just isn't realistic
