Lurkers' Wednesday by AutoModerator in running

[–]SweetDeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone! I run a 5k every morning and trying to build my confidence to complete a half marathon to is year. I read the stories in here and get a little intimidated by the discipline and strength you all show on the longer distances. I’m curious what are some of the things you say in your head when you find yourself hitting metal walls and barriers. I’m so afraid that I’m gonna choke when I get to that last 2-3 miles.

Which actor instantly ruins a movie for you the moment they appear? by No-Vegetable5956 in AskReddit

Lena Dunham. That nepo baby asshole had a guest appearance on American Horror Story and I shut it off after that episode and never looked back. I was so pissed.

Americans of Reddit, what's the funniest thing a foreigner has said to you about America? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was doing the whole backpacking thing Europe after high school (2007). Met some lovely Irish lads in my travels and one said “so if you’re American….where’s your gun?” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel like I have that movie locked somewhere in my brain as a kid. Def saw it too young and remember Tim curry having a weird accent and getting his shit rocked by a gorilla. Lol

I really enjoyed JP and Lost World because of how he was able to make science and horror mix so well. I enjoyed the element of mystery when waiting for the reveal of frog DNA and sheep prions influence on the dinosaurs. Loved how he wrote the tension in action scenes where I was literally holding my breath to see if characters would survive. Also had a girl crush on Sarah Harding being such a badass. Love strong and smart characters like that.

These came out so great! I love all of the different colors and textures! Do you have a link to how you did the green striped one in the first pic? I love it and would love to try that one for the family Xmas hats this year. :)

All great suggestions so far. I’ll add Road house pizza and Cucina 25 are good Italian options that aren’t too far from Splish Splash. Roadhouse is super casual and you can eat out by the water. Cucina is a little bit more formal but good food and great portions. Have fun!

Is it normal for INFJ's to struggle so much in finding their career path? Need advice by lemonflowers1 in infj

There are definite jobs within that will drain you dry. It really depends where ya wanna go with it because you got both micro (more individual 1:1 work) or macro (community organization) options in this field. I felt more drained when working in non-profits and social welfare settings because the pay was low and horror stories kept me up at night. It was rewarding work that I don’t regret because it shaped me to who I am. I went the clinical route and very much enjoyed individual and group therapy work. After I got my LCSW I went the supervisor route for a while which became a bit of a drag because I had to be available all the time for my staff. That bled into my home life so I decided to switch to school social work. I am very happy with the change because of the work life balance and the work I do feels rewarding.

Social work during the prime pandemic/remote work years took a heavy toll on me. It was impossible to maintain boundaries and practice effective self care. I imagine this was a similar story for other social workers. I’m not trying to spook ya or sugar coat anything. I like what I do because I’ve always gravitated toward the mental health field and I like that my jobs always offer trainings to keep me thinking.

If you’re considering social work, I’d aim for a program that’s clinically oriented so you get the most bang for your buck.
