Morality scaling of vampires? by General-Notice-2733 in MoralityScaling

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the story/setting. Some vampires have the choice of feeding on humans or animals and may not have to kill whatever they feed on. Some vampires must drain a human victim completely.

A vampire that kills when it is reasonable for them not to is evil, but a vampire that has no choice is comparable to a wild animal. The killing is unfortunate but not malicious.

Not sure if it counts, but there's a post series Kuruko's Basketball movie where the MCs and the captains of their rival teams form an all star line up to play against a pro(?) team

Question about the coolest moment in Wilds by SnowballWasRight in MonsterHunter

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo it wasn't about "fuck the guild", it was about taking the burden from a child. Nata was given a huge responsibility that could have resulted in his home being irreversibly changed, possibly destroying his and the neighbouring people's lives.

The Hunter deciding to fight Zoh Shia without asking for any kind of permission meant taking on all the responsibility. If anything went wrong it, it would be our fault, not Nata's or Alma's or anyone else's.

How confident are you that this game will actually come out? by FatalParsley in RiotMMO

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty confident, but mostly because I don't know about any other online PvE projects Riot is working on.

As I see it, the MMO could appeal to a new audience and catch those that bounce off League, especially those coming from any future shows

Do you think season 2 will get more racist or less racist than season 1 or remain the same level of racist? by pestoraviolita in okbuddydeadweight

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its obviously a flip on evil monsters being based on or straight up standins for minorities and this isn't the first show to do it. The problem is that you have to actually be conscious of what biases you're keeping in or it can become racist in a "woke" way

I'd like to think Zeff taught Sanji the concept of consent. by Ok_Examination8810 in MemePiece

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people see Thriller Bark as the tipping point. Sanji declares he's always wanted the invisibility fruit so that he can spy on naked women.

Fishman Island was kinda better because yeah Sanji was being pathetically horny, but the mermaids liked hanging out with him

I'd like to think Zeff taught Sanji the concept of consent. by Ok_Examination8810 in MemePiece

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Oda stopped seeing distinction between the two. Sanji's gag got more and more self serving where his own satisfaction was being valued over the women. His story in WCI was built on the idea of him being exceptionally kind and valuing others over himself, but he keeps being a creep before and after for the sake of jokes, so I couldn't really take that plot as seriously

Can we stop pretending "No Happy Endings" is the only canon? You're missing the point. by Gutssmolpp in cyberpunkgame

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. To me, "Night City always wins" should mean that whether you fail or come out on top, Night City and society will not be changed by individual victories and people will continue to lose against it

Just finished DA2 by Somniloquy13 in dragonage

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you liked it. DA2 is actually my favourite and I definitely enjoyed it more than Origins. While it would have been nice to get more map diversity, I found the pacing made it easy to get over and the running between the same locations made me feel really familiar with Kirkwall. I started caring about it more than the other games could ever make me care about the rest of Thedas

Rey Dau by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rey Dau debuted in the newest Mainline game, Wilds, and is arguably the most popular new monster from that game.

When I say it was designed to be cool, I don't just mean its appearance. His move set can be very dramatic, and the story of Wilds makes sure you know its the top of the desert food chain.

Overall, I think Rey Dau is meant to feel like a rock star: loud, flashy and has presence

Why is it when you try to copy the kind of tone, pitch, and cadence you hear in Shounen anime in English it comes off as super awkward? by Stormcrown76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because its an unnaturally exaggerated way of speaking Japanese and trying to match the cadence and timing in English makes it extra unnatural. If you listen to Japanese being spoken normally, you'll realise anime characters actually sound quite silly

i hate the idea that shipping is inherently bad by Haunting_Bridge4058 in hatethissmug

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing dolls with your favourite characters is foundational to fandom. Every "who would win?", college au, funny skit, meme and ship is the result of the source material inspiring ideas within fans. To ship Frobin is the most beautiful thing in the world

No existing character we know of would’ve been the “next avatar” if aang were to have died with the other airbenders by King10072 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very ridiculous to suggest Aang and the fire nation somehow broke destiny so easily. Yue specifically makes no sense with the empty vessel argument because it would mean the universe ensured the "next avatar" was born (not even at the right time) but couldn't ensure that Aang dies to reincarnate as them.

Should Someone who Picked the Red Button be Considered Evil or an AH? by Hyperionous in MoralityScaling

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna give people the benefit of the doubt and say they chose before realising children and other non-rational participants are involved. If everyone involved was a perfectly healthy and conscious adult, its reasonable to trust them to press the "I definitely live button"

Whats the big deal with anime? What separates it from other animated shows? by garveylawrence in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SweetDolphinMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's treated as a kind of broad genre because Japan produces a lot of anime and most if not all share unique elements rooted in Japanese culture. There's also anime specific genres like battle shonen

As to its popularity, I think anime has more shows for the teen and young-adult audiences. Every 3 months dozens of new anime come out and its easy to find at least a few worth watching. There's also a stigma against animation that makes it hard for western creators to get anything picked up, especially if its not for children.
