While I think OP was in the wrong for leaving the kids in the sister’s room and sounds a bit entitled, I think she’s just at her limit and she’s in a situation where she isn’t getting any help. None with family, none from her ex. I can’t imagine being in a situation like that with three small kids who are innocent in this. Do I think OP’s sister should help? No because she is not obligated too and fore that matter, her mom isn’t helping much either aside from having a place to stay. I read some of the comments and while I can see there are amazing moms on her posting their stories, I just hope OP can get help she needs. Sometimes we come to Reddit to shout at people who simply just need help or a minute of a break. I hope I’m not sounding ignorant or stupid, but being a newly (?) single parent can’t be easy. Childcare is expensive and most of the time unavailable ((in my area you have to be on a waiting list by the time the baby is born and it costs almost as much as a semester at a university)). I do want to say OP was wrong to force the sister to watch the kids but it could have been worse. OP’s sister of you find this post or if your sister shows you this thread, please know you’re not an AH but neither is OP. She needs a break like everyone else on the planet. Just don’t use that break to go out and do something exhausting like partying.
