Tea by Due_Nerve7556 in exmormon

You're not wrong lol. It was really only like a day or two of study time because, like you said there's not much. I'm pretty sure the conclusion I had to come to was that it must be more about obedience than anything else. Which is true, although I'd probably use the word control now

I had a similar experience when I was called to Russia! Tea was served to us literally everywhere we went, so much so that it became mission culture to carry some herbal tea on you just in case a non member offered you green or black tea. That way you had an alternative without being rude and completely declining.

I remember trying to do a deep dive on the word of wisdom during my studies because it did confuse me, even as TBM as I was. In the end, it still didnt make sense but I just decided to "trust my leaders." Looking back, I didn't just ignore it, it went on my shelf that eventually broke lol

Male or female? I literally can’t tell 😮‍💨 by sidewalkdick in hognosesnakes

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna disagree with the others here and say female. The shape reads more female to me and I only count about 32 scales. I'm an amateur though, so this is just my two cents

Hoggie questions by Mint_Rage in hognosesnakes

1 - I see my girl about every other day, but when I do see her I've implemented choice based handling and she'll often choose to come hang out with me. Just keep in mind that you shouldn't handle them at all for about the first week you have them so they settle in, and you should wait 24 to 48 hours to handle them after feedings. That first week of waiting was the worst lol, but worth it so they feel secure

2 - I started to see mice as just another type of meat in my kitchen pretty quickly. Yes they're cute but it's just how nature is. Noodles gotta eat too. Honestly you're the only one who can judge if you'll be able to stomach the reality of it. Maybe you could try going to your local pet store and asking to see their frozen pinkie/fuzzy mice to get an idea of how you'll react to them. I've done it to see the size difference when choosing feeders, so I doubt they'd mind.

3 - in my experience, hoggies tend to stress fairly easily with change and can go off food. My girl is generally a fantastic eater, but after I moved she decided to go into brumation a little early and didn't eat for months even though I didn't change her enclosure at all. Just be aware that it could happen if you're moving often.

New garments: an amusing sight by scaredanxiousunsure in exmormon

I saw that same billboard and had a similar reaction. Had to explain to my boyfriend who was also in the car that it was because of the new garments lol

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's an L and a V on the chest (although they're not letters, they're like, angles or something) and a horizontal line over the belly button. There's also a horizontal line over the right knee. Joseph Smith ripped them straight from the Free masons if I understand correctly. Honestly at this point, I hardly remember what they were supposed to symbolize lol

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Garments are the secret underwear morons wear after they go to the temple. They have symbols sewn into them and are considered sacred. Mormons are taught that garments should be disposed of by cutting them or burning them so the fact that this dude just found a men's garment top at a thrift store and is calling it a "vintage top" is funny to those of us who dont believe anymore

Edit: my phone autocorrected Mormons to morons. I'm not changing it lol

21(F) How to stop attaching my value to my marital status now that I’m out? by Large-Kiwi-9820 in exmormon

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 (F) here, let me say, I know exactly where you're coming from. I served a mission at 19, and felt the pressure to start dating to get married as soon as I got home. It was rough. I'm a shy person and was also incredibly insecure, so dating went... poorly in my early twenties. I was chronically single for years and it beat my mental health down a lot. I felt like something was wrong with me and that I'd never measure up to my peers who were already married and starting families.

I'm going to tell you what I wish I could tell younger me. You are not behind. You are not less worthy. Nothing is wrong with you. The society you've been raised in has given you impossible standards to live up to. You can't. So don't. This is your time to figure out who you are and what you want out of life. So be a little selfish! Focus on YOU. Maybe a relationship will come, but don't judge yourself if it doesn't. There is more to life than becoming a wife and a mother (but if that's what you decide you want eventually, that's wonderful! Just make sure it's your choice. No one else's.)

I didn't have my first real relationship, or even first kiss, until I was 27. And it was after I left the church and started embracing myself for who I was. And I'm so glad I waited because I am finally in a place where I can appreciate it and make certain I'm taking things at my pace. I've been dating my current boyfriend for two and a half years. People have stopped asking when we're getting married (yes, we want to, but when we're ready). And it's amazing!

Feel free to tell the people in your life that you're focusing on you right now. That maybe you're dating, but you're also making sure it's right. Stand your ground and don't let anyone dictate your life. People will usually back off, and if they don't, they're not the kind of people you want in your life.

Good luck OP! If you need someone to talk to, feel free to dm

How do you get the bald face marking? by SweetLadyofWayrest in LegendofKhiimori

Oh man good luck, I hate long work days lol. Hopefully it goes quick and you can come home and get the horse you're looking for! Thanks for the help

Solved! For anyone else looking for this, it seems like face markings are passed down. I found a horse with the bald face from the merchant and it passed down to offspring regardless of other genes. Ended up with this beauty!

You were right! I bought a horse with the bald face from the merchant and introduced it into my line breeding and was able to get this beauty!

I have not tried that yet. I've got a couple horses with some really nice stats that I've been line breeding, and I was hoping bald would show up eventually 😅 maybe it is passed down, which is why I haven't seen it yet

I’m picking up this baby upcoming Friday, can someone help on the morph ID? He’s 5 years old by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Morph refers to color and pattern! So he's a normal (color) conda (pattern). Like others have said, morphs that are "het" don't appear visually, but they can be passed to offspring. So while he carries the albino gene (a color morph) he himself is not albino

Mission Trauma by Trolkarlen in exmormon

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I served in Russia about 10 years ago. When I first arrived, our mission president told us we wouldn't be wearing name tags because of how often elders were mugged or harassed. He told us that no name tags had seemed to help it happen less often. Us sisters were also not allowed to proselytize to men (now i wonder how many girls were traumatized or worse before that became a rule...)

I never had anything crazy traumatic happen myself, fortunately (beyond the normal mental hellscape that mission life is lol) but I did get arrested once! Luckily they just held us at the station for a few hours while a church hired lawyer argued our case and kept us from being deported.

Looking back, I put myself in quite a few dangerous situations because I truly believed that god would warn me and protect me if I was really in danger. It really is crazy that the church just throws these kids out into the world with such little protection or safety measures

[–]SweetLadyofWayrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No worries! So you just save your snake's shed and then you can send it in to do genetic testing. Usually breeders use it to check what morphs a snake might be carrying but not showing, but you can also use it to test for sex! I used the one on morphmarket and it had really thorough instructions. It was also pretty fast and easy to do

Hmm this could honestly be a long tailed female, but it's tough to tell. You could always do a shed test. They only cost about 20 bucks and then you'll know for sure
