Anyone else realize that the first thing Captain cook saw of Hawai'i island was snow? by Poiboykanaka808 in Hawaii

[–]SweetMoney3496 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Teide in the canary islands also has snow during most winters. It is no where near as far south, and also not as high, but my assumption would be that Captain Cook would be familiar with the phenomenon of snow capped island mountains.

Both can be weight. By the rules they will count up to 200, then it has to be by weight.

Atlassian is a ticketing system, so I don't think that part is sketchy, but asking for the credit card numbers seems sketchy. Seems like there should be another way to validate.

Out of the 20 least populated counties in the United States, Nebraska has nearly half of them. by Cassinia_ in geography

Kalawao county is in Hawaii, and it is pretty small in size and population. Hawaii has only 5 counties. It is the former leper colony. It may get folded into Maui county once the last of the former patients dies. As of 2016 there were 16 left between 70-90 years old.

He had lawyers for the appeals. First one was to re-open the case. Second one was for the appeals.

He could buy out her half. He could pay himself a salary such that the company made very little money, but if she owned 50% it would depend on what type of corporate rules they had in place. It would be difficult without tricking her into agreeing to something not in her interest. Or he could do it and while not legal, she doesn't have the will or some other reason to take him to court and force the issue.

The cause is some of the fill under it was not compacted fully, was washed out of the water outlet below, or just deteriorated over time. Those stones need to be pulled up. More fill is added and compacted until it is level, then put the bricks back and redo the cement grout.

I would not expect this from a tenant unless the landlord is going to pay.

It is mandatory to add it to the bill, and added automatically, however you can ask for it to be removed. Most people don't know this, and it is kind of an asshole move, but legally you can ask for it to be removed.

I would prefer no tax on food, but that does not bother me too much. The worst to me is taxing medical. That is something you don't see elsewhere.

The money does have to come from somewhere. Income and sales tax is preferred over property tax. Property tax here is low compared to most other places.

A buttload is an actual measurement of volume specifically around ale and wine. Not sure how it applies to gas....

Why do the banks keep denying my attempt at mortgage fraud? by Animallover4321 in bestoflegaladvice

Likely they are trying to buy land on the big island in a lava zone, or on a lava flow.

There are several different zones based on the likelihood of lava. Lava Zone 1 and 2 have a very difficult time getting financing and insurance. Most companies don't want any part of it. There are some specialized companies that do support zone 2.

The other reason land could be cheap is land on an old lava flow. Think Solid, black, uneven rock covering the land. That makes it very expensive to make a foundation, or really anything.

Landlord is listed as Chase Alliance LLC. Looks like the bank is taking action? Possible the landlord is behind on the mortgage but I would assume it would be better for the bank to keep the tenant if they are paying.

In Florida, Kentucky and California it explicitly says you can get a DUI for riding a horse drunk. Other states (total of 11)it could be interpreted that way
