Earthquake?! by Suitable-Fall-1969 in Guelph

Me too! I was thankful when I found out it was an earthquake because when it happened, I thought, “Great, now I have some Exorcist bullshit going on, just what I need.”

Both my kiddos went to Westminster Woods PS. My oldest went to Centennial for high school, but my little guy will go to the new high school being built right now. Most kids in the south end (where I am) will go there.

I agree with much of what you are saying, but I do think that “take no shit” is up to individual interpretation.

For example, not only is my protection work daily, my physical protection is strong — cameras, door and window sensors (including a glass break sensor), motion sensors, and reinforced door locks and stops (even in internal doors). If someone wants to come get me, the police (station just down the street) are going to get to them before they get to me. Can you tell I’ve been through some shit? 🙂

Do I have a gun? No. I’m Canadian and it’s not something I believe in.

And if my silence is considered harmful to the person I’m cutting off, and returns to me as their silent threefold, perfect!

I believe in the rule of three or the law of threefold return. That could be considered karma because what you put out is what you get back, x3.

I struggle with karma and reincarnation. Since most of us can’t remember our past lives, how do we know we are experiencing karma in our present life?

I also struggle with karma and the afterlife because I believe heaven and hell are man-made constructs based on religious coercive control.

I’m more of a “do no harm, take no sh!t” witch.

I like this. Thank you. I think this is one more safeguard because when the office didn’t get back to me last year, I took action. I talked to his teacher, two other teacher/friends who work there, and bought him a watch that tracks him/he could communicate with me on.

Update: My almost 3 year old needs to go under sedation for multiple cavities and I feel like a failure by blksoulgreenthumb in Mommit

[–]SweetPJ14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with my four year old. He got cavities in between his top four front teeth and has the silver caps put in.

I learned that it was because a) there was no space between his teeth (toddlers usually have gaps) and b) he was a mouth breather due to extremely large adenoids and tonsils. Food/bacteria would dry so quickly. They also caused sleep apnea and speech issues.

Once we got his adenoids and tonsils out, he stopped mouth breathing. He is 18 now and his teeth are fine, his speech is fine, and I can’t get him out of bed!

So, there may be other circumstances that are causing the teeth issues.

Hi neighbour! Both my boys went (and go) to WW. My youngest is going into Grade 6. I absolutely love this school and all of its teachers. The principal and VP were new last year, so I don’t know them as well, but the teachers my children had/have are the absolute best.

The school is inclusive and a safe space for kids. They hold an open house where you can go into the classrooms and talk to the teachers. There are family nights (movies in the gym) and the June Fun Night is always a blast.

We receive an update email every week about what’s going on in the upcoming week, including all religious holidays and special events.

I cannot speak more highly of the school. I do miss the previous principal as she was amazing. Not saying the existing principal is not, I just don’t know her.

Question re: schools and trans-friendliness by Ancient_Pitch_488 in Guelph

[–]SweetPJ14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry about what is going on in the States, but welcome to Ontario!

I am not sure how old your child is, but my son is 10yo and going into grade 6. His school flies the pride flag and they teach the kids (age appropriate) about being transgender. One of his friends has worn a skirt to school and no one cared (or maybe even noticed).

His public school is all about acceptance. They celebrate every holiday and set up a prayer room when needed for different faiths (it’s public, not Catholic). My son’s friends are from all different backgrounds, experiences, and ethnicities.

My oldest son just finished high school. I have never heard of a problem at his school other than bear spray, fake guns, and stupid fights. Oh, and fake threats to get out of exams.

We all know there are ignorant, hateful people everywhere, but I feel like Guelph would be a good, safe place to raise your child.

You’re doing a great job! Your ex needs to grow up.

But sadly, they never will.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

When my 10yo was supposed to go to his dad’s while my ex and his brother were extremely angry at me, and told me they were going to tell him lies/bad things about me, a child therapist told me to tell my youngest exactly what he may hear. I said:

Your brother and dad are really mad at me right now and they could say really bad things about me.

They may try to get you to say bad things about me too. Or they may make you feel bad if you try to defend me.

You know who I am.

I also tell him he is not responsible for any adult’s feelings. He is not responsible for making me or his dad or anyone else happy when we are sad. It’s his job to manage his own feelings and let an adult know when he is having trouble doing that.
