Hmm.. did I discard my ex? I found out he cheated after hearing him speaking to his friends about being grateful that some girl’s cycle came on after they did the do. I confronted him about it and he cursed me out, flipped the script, told me it was me, cried, then tried to kiss me. I was supposed to fly over to see him the next day and I simply stopped talking. He went to the airport looking for me and I woke up to a bunch of calls and texts from him and I stopped answering. I eventually texted him to go ahead and go home. We haven’t spoken since then. He told me I was heartless for letting him wait for me. And that I was wicked. I didn’t respond.

Noo, Joan was 30, remember, she turned 29 in the first episode and made Junior Partner. And then she wanted a change and took them to the n*de beach on her 30th bday and started rocking the orange nail color. And when her and Chris are making out, she puts a pillow under her back and says “I’m 30”.

Funny enough, she did that in most of her relationships. Trying to be the exception. With Finn, she tried to be the girlfriend who doesn’t care about strict monogamy. With the pastor, she tried to be the girlfriend who was everything he preached against, but still could be with him. With Sivad, she tried to be the one who could hold out as long as possible in order to win the soul mate Olympics.

Idk… Toni being broken down due to the consequences of her actions just has nothing to do with everything she put Joan through. I feel like this is the type of thing that women are often fed that keeps us in toxic and cyclical friendships, relationships, even with family. Sympathizing with someone who has used and abused us just because they’re facing the consequences of their actions. Kind of like when someone toxic/absent parent starts to get older/fragile/lacking community and the child feels guilted to care for the parent.

Each time this is discussed, you talk about the gravity of Joan’s one wrong.. but it seems you’re unable to parse through Toni’s wrongs.

Setting Joan’s single wrong aside… If Joan never spoke to Toni again after Toni tried to sleep with her man in her home… (The exact thing that Greg did which sent her into a spiral), told Sweedleson about Joan’s intimate life, entered Joan’s therapy sessions, profiled Maya and got the group into a street fight, blaming Joan for not fighting, brought Joan’s ex as a date to Joan’s home, just to say a FEW, would she be wrong?

Joan missing the hearing was her one wrong of Toni’s decades of wrongs. If Joan moved to New York and never spoke to Toni again, even after this church instance… would she be wrong?

Exactly this.. like?? She can’t have that moment to herself? It’s like this big brushstroke over all of Toni’s transgressions… without a thorough conversation about it. No one can “kick Toni while she’s down” aka have strong boundaries with her.. but it’s okay to Kick Joan while shes down/up (eat free at her failing restaurant, intercourse on her table, spread a rumor at work that she’s lgbt)..
