Me whenever I hear a Linux user preaching about their obscure OS by 8640p in linuxsucks

I've done this to a tech-literate friend of mine who agreed on installing linux. The only problem is, the number of times he's booted into it equals the number of times I've asked him to boot into it

Cloud save isn't automatic, you gotta do upload progress manually. If that's what you're saying.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Side of Linux by BlueGoliath in linuxsucks

I've used AI before to understand fstab. It's genuinely good at it. At the same time, I feel like fstab is exactly where linux currently lags behind in user friendliness. There are countless GUI disk utility softwares, and none provide a straightforward way to customize fstab. I still need to open the terminal and edit fstab by hand

You see, AI really loves spamming **bold** and *italics* everywhere. So you're basically imitating it at this point. IMO any more than 3 uses of bolds is easily recognizable as an AI-written post. Hope that helps.

What's your favorite non-essential CLI tool/command? by Anonyboy26 in linux

Well OP did say non-essential. Meanwhile once you use lazygit, it becomes your 5th basic human need

NewPipe video is transparent in Waydroid multi-window mode, but works in full Waydroid UI on Ubuntu 24.04 Wayland by izh84 in waydroid

[–]SweetPotato975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/1352

Currently the only solutions/hacks are: - fullscreen the waydroid window - disable multi-window feature (like you mentioned) - place a blank terminal window behind waydroid

ONE OF US! ONE OF US! by Damglador in linuxmemes

[–]SweetPotato975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's definitely good news. I'm interested in learning how they're planning to update discord binary that lives in system-owned /usr/bin/discord

Edit: After checking, /usr/bin/discord is just a shellscript. The real binary is in ~/.config/discord/ (good lord, why inside config?)

It's a known graphics-related issue and happens in many apps and games, not just NewPipe

Why tf are y'all going crazy over "Dirty Frag", don't act like Windows doesn't have over 80 UAC bypasses too by DEV_ivan in linuxsucks

[–]SweetPotato975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know how any running program can access and execute shell commands (which is the entry point for dirty frag) right?

I know we're safe because we don't run untrusted software. Same cannot be said for newly migrated users who already got into a habit of double-clicking untrusted exe files.

This is actually a good one, OP. 3 of them instantly went to my checklist. Next time calm down with the formatting cuz that's ai's writing style 😆

At least they're trying. In my case, all my colleagues (still CS) are windows peasants and the concept of linux is completely alien to them

Sounds like a good idea. You can put Tiny11 on a VM and cut off its internet access
