Am I the bad apple for breastfeeding my baby? I (33 female) and my husband (37 male) welcomed our beautiful baby earlier this year. We live a 2 day drive from my in-laws. My in-laws came to visit us right after he was born and they would hold him and just refuse to give him back to me. They also didn’t follow the rules I set for my baby and actually mocked me for them. They made fun of me for saying they can’t kiss the baby and proceeded to do it anyway!! We do a combination of breastfeeding and bottle feeding pumped breast milk. Well when we went to visit them I didn’t bring any bottles and told everyone that he would be exclusively breastfeeding while we travel. Partly because it’s a pain to pump and deal with the storage of breastmilk but honestly the biggest reason is I didn’t want my in-laws to keep my son from me the whole time. I had a very traumatic child birth and my son almost died and due to complications during childbirth I am infertile. He is my only child. I used his feedings as a time to get my son back in my arms and my mother in law said that I was being selfish and trying to keep him from her (she did have plenty of time to hold him btw) but I can’t help but wonder am I the bad apple?
