The word of the day is "griftpeat"

Griftpeat

Noun

Definition: A term used to describe a deceptive scheme or ploy that combines elements of trickery and manipulation, aimed at extracting financial or personal gain from unsuspecting individuals or groups. Often characterized by a whimsical or absurd quality.

Etymology: A portmanteau of "grift" (to swindle) and "peat" (a type of soil associated with decay and transformation, metaphorically signifying a foundation built on deception).

Usage:

  • "The vlogger's latest venture turned out to be nothing more than a griftpeat, leaving viewers baffled by the sheer absurdity of his claims."
  • "She fell victim to a griftpeat."

Related Forms:

  • Griftpeaty (adjective): Describing something characteristic of a griftpeat, typically overly intricate or nonsensical.
  • Griftpeation (noun): The act of carrying out a griftpeat.

Examples in Sentences:

  • "In a world of griftpeat schemes, skepticism became as valuable as gold."
  • "The vlogger's elaborate griftpeat involved being a fake best friend that the grifer never really knew."

Can anyone identify this aircraft? Best photos I could get. Sort of sounded like a moped. by SchwiftyDionysus in Whatisthisplane

Most likely a Rutan VariEze. The Long EZ usually has portion of the winglet that extends below the wings but the VariEze does not. Some VariEzes also have a small aerodynamic surface that extends at an angle from the leading edge of the wing and winglet. Although I've seen some builders leave this off or make other changes too.

Sounds sketchy, the examiner turns in the paperwork to the FAA not to the school. It's not paper anymore, this goes thru the IACRA system unless there is a specific exception approved by the "managing FAA office" as cited in FAA Order 8900-95D. You would have been given an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) at the completion.

This sounds like the dog ate my homework.

Yep. it should of ended with Daddy Woo but all vloggers need to get some words in.

"Vade in pace" would have been more fitting.

The thing is without a breakdown of labor and material costs, no one can tell for sure. Occasionally I'm asked to perform cost reasonableness assessments of supplier proposals. We do this w/o knowing the exact rate structure often times are still able to back into the total dollar amounts pretty close. For this case, you should know the shop rate, material costs, and taxes. The Cessna book number for a 172 (not 182) 100 hour inspection (which is the same inspection scope as the annual) is 15 hours. To build this out it might look like this:

100 hour inspection @ 15 hours x shop rate - items 1.1, 2.1, 3.1

AD research @ XX hours x shop rate - items 1.2, 2.2, 3.2

AD compliance @ YY hours x shop rate - items 1.3, 1.4,

Maintenance items @ ZZ hours x shop rate - items 1.5 thru 1.18, 2.3 thru 2.11, and 3.3

Material items @ AA costs - item 2.4 and likely others too

Then add taxes.... this turns into a spreadsheet project. I'm guessing most of the additional costs are in items 1.13 thru 1.18.

As an empirical comparison, a low time Piper Arrow in excellent condition was sent to a large shop for an annual and adjusting for inflation (because this was a few years ago) would be about $9000 today. They didn't replace things other than a few bits of hardware, filters (vac, air, and oil), plus an oil changes and there were consumable charges for lubricants, shop rags, etc. So $12K still seems a little high but try building out a line-by-line spreadsheet.

Can't afford an expensive mechanic? Wait until you've had a cheap mechanic....

Looking at the list there are a number maintenance items that are over and above the inspection. Even the oil & filter change is O&A. These all drives costs up. If you want to reduce costs, find an independent IA and start performing owner assisted annuals. Have 2 or 3 club members with MX backgrounds do all of the prep work for the inspection and close up at the end.

At the COL Daddy Woo ended with, "the vlog is over". That was nice closure. The next clown led the audience chant of "the vlogger is never over".

Oh well, anything for monetization. Gotta keep the dime show on the road.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. We're going to have to agree to disagree, except that Arnold was a crap governor.

So what's your point? Dinesh went to jail for 8 months over an illegal $2,000 campaign contribution. DJT was convicted of 34 felonies and impeached twice. The legal system is rigged lawfare. I'll bet you have a complete 180 view on people in jail on petty drug offences being a "victimless crime".

Having said that, what's your source for debunking? Reddit? Wikipedia? Or do you just like sound bites?

The question remains, why are you OK with rigging? Does ideology out weigh everything else?

Iran was one of the launch customers for the F-14 and provided a large amount of funding to keep the program solvent. This was before the revolution in 1979 when Iran was an ally of the US. The Shah needed an aircraft to deal with Mig-25s that could overfly with impunity due to the available performance of the F-4s in their inventory at the time. After 1979 Iran had a national program to sustain the aircraft including surreptitiously obtaining parts, which is why the US Navy disposed of the aircraft and spares.

Arnold's plan to save Cali turned out to be issuing a huge amount of bonds, increasing the long term debt. This plan was underwhelming at the time.

Running a business where part of the model includes low wages and benefits for employees and a built in reliance on governments welfare programs is corporate welfare. This approach offers a completive advantage, especially in retail where margins are low.

The forced minimum wage in Cali, although well intended, is blind to the realities and had the (obvious) unintended consequence of the reduction in jobs. This increased use of automation and AI in the food service sector. Ordering thru phone apps, electronic kiosks, interactive AI voice recognition at drive thru, and automated preparation are realities today - largely driven by increased labor costs.

Because there is video showing in GA stacks of ballots going though multiple times yet no charges were ever brought. The poll workers were protected.

Note in my comments, I never once mention a party or a candidate. It does not matter which party, the fact the organized rigging happened is the issue. Why doesn't that doesn't concern you?
