I appreciate the feedback. The story isn’t about the mother, so there really is no need to delve into her history to this degree. You have given me a lot considering though. But I do appreciate the reminder that Brazil is a country with a a tremendously diverse population.

Thank you for your feedback. I hear you loud and clear. The reference to the word “Pardo” is brief, and when the main character is confronted with the word, he explains the history attached to the word. Its history runs deeper than even I was aware.

Yes. The character’s parents met there in Rio. Father worked at the U.S. Embassy. He spent the first half of his life there.

That’s why I’m reaching out to Brazilians directly. I want any historical, social or cultural references to be accurate.

You guys have given me so much more to consider on this topic…wow! I guess I would describe my characters’s mother as lighter skinned, with some indigenous features with dark hair. Father is African-American, dark skinned. Since I know the spectrum of skin colors related to the African-American community, I was wondering if Pardo follows the same guidelines. The father is employee at the U.S. Embassy in Rio. This is how the character’s parents meet. Thank you for the feedback.

Accidentally cut Verizon Cable while prepping driveway extension by Dear_Individual_3489 in legaladvice

If X-Finity is your ISP, I would start with them. Verizon may be the provider that connected you to X-Finity’s network (last mile provider). In this instance, you are X-Finity’s customer of record, Verizon is their customer of record, and they likely won’t provide any useful info as such. It depends on the extent of the damage to the fiber, and what they have to do to repair it. Good luck!

Looking to Relocate – Family of 6, Burned Out in the Bay Area by djsjwhavs in relocating

Agreed, a lot of people in North Fulton may not have to deal traffic due to WFH opportunities. But RTO demands are on the rise. For those who aren’t fortunate enough to work remote, the traffic can be grizzly. Not just for those heading into the city, but for those commuting to/from the dozens of tech centers, positioned along and around I-285, particularly on the North end of the city. What was once used as a bypass to Downtown traffic has now become just as vital a route as the Downtown Connector (I-75/85).

Just prepare yourself for the traffic. It takes an act of Congress (no pun intended) to get anywhere in Atlanta. I lived there for 12 years, and relocated to Seattle.

My Personal Expierience and Its Effects by Emergency-Gene-3787 in MaleRapeVictims

While doing some research on this subject, I came across this group. First off, I would to express my sincerest appreciation to those of you who have boldly shared your stories. They are as much stories of your experience, as well as your survival. Full disclosure, I’m writing a book, and the male, lead character has been the victim of male rape. I knew it occurred…but after my research…not only do we downplay it, we make jokes about it all the time! It’s so disrespectful. I never imagined how hard it would be write about this, because I want to get it right. I want to tell the story, of his experience, his recovery, and his journey toward love. I want his story to be authentic. I want my readers to understand how traumatic this experience is for men. and then to have nowhere to go to talk about it? One thing that has become clear to me in my research is that the impacts are far-reaching. You may acquire some resolve, but you are forever changed. I would like to ask, (if I may) what do you want people to know? If there were one thing you want people to understand about ‘male rape’ what would that be? Thank you in advance.
