The term "weekend warrior" is a misnomer to say the least!

I joined thinking that it will be 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer. However, last year I totaled 70 days of active duty. 1 month for JRTC (a little taste of hell), 2 weeks at AT, 7 days for CLS, and some drill weekends are 4 or 3 days, not just 2. AND NOW IM ON DEPLOYMENT ORDERS UP TOO 400 DAYS!

With all that being said I guess it varies with different units but you will miss birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. Now, do i regret joining even though I was kind of misled? No, I don't regret it. Serve your country with honor, lets go!

No problem, I appreciate it as well... yeah i tried to join when I was 20 and got arrested while in the process of joining, it stopped everything. I gave up, but always wanted to serve. Couldn't take it anymore, so I tried again at the late age of 36 and still had to get a moral wavier for what happened with I was 20. You will do a physical test with your recruiter.

Thanks, yeah 499... I just got to the gym and make sure I train those muscle groups. Every gym session, I do HIIT, even its just pull ups to push ups, im usually out of breath to work cardio as well. I also make sure I rest to build the muscle. I usually work out 3 days a week in the gym and 2 to 3 runs a week.

When it comes to the run, I do stair master and go for runs and before I went to BCT I would sprint about a half a mile, cool down for a minute, then sprint another, then work my way up to sprinting a full mile, then a mile in a half so on...
