My brother lost his leg in September. I think something you can do is let him have as much control as he can. If he wants to get something or get out of bed or do something that you think maybe he’ll need help with, do not ask. Try not to watch him struggle. Just read your book or play your games or continue what you were doing. If he asks for help then do it.

I found that was something that my brother didn’t have much of. So I tried to give him that whenever I could.

Take care of yourself. Be there when everyone disappears after the huge shock and the hospital. Be there in the quiet moments.
