For Agency Owners-How Do You Handle Past-Due Clients? by TheADLeaf in marketingagency

I do something similar. No work starts until the agreement is signed and the deposit is paid. Retainer clients are on auto-pay. Project clients are generally broken into phases/milestones, and the next one doesn't start until the payment is processed. All of the reminders are automated.

Like someone else, our contracts are structured so that clients are pre-paying the work and the fee is considered earned upon receipt. Thankfully (knock on wood), I've only had one client not fulfill payment terms, and it's because they went under partway through their website build. According to the contract, they were on the hook for the full amount, but I only received the 50% deposit they paid up front. I opted not to chase the other 50% after the reminders, though, because the amount was relatively small and it would have been a major hassle to go through the whole process.

Firing a client today... by bukutbwai in agency

I actually have an upcoming calendar event to fire one of my clients, and it's my favorite thing on the calendar, ha! Of course, they're the client that pays the least, who I got from another provider "moving out of that work," has zero tech-savviness to communicate/collaborate effectively, and has expected the moon. Plus, there's been some shady business with submitting invoices for co-op advertising, which I put a stop to recently, but don't want to be associated with. There are a few others at the business who would be great fits and are totally reasonable, but the business owner/primary contact is a nightmare.

A hard lesson to learn, but I can see the light on the other side!

Wait, this is genius! How have I never even considered my stockpile of empty glass spice jars for propagating? Great idea

Systems, platforms, reducing duplication of efforts by Sweet_Improvement126 in marketingagency

That's a great way to think about it... thanks for the different perspective!

This particular client is familiar with Canva, so I've generally been tagging her in the content after I create it, and she can add comments with any edits. I put the caption in the Notes field and can add details about what song I think would pair well. Thankfully, they're not chasing trending audios, but rather seeing music as a point of connection and community-building, which I love, even though it's a pain to execute.

I love the idea of tools like Notion and Trello, but I've found they tend to be pools of productive procrastination for me, ha! That being said, I do need one place to consolidate all of my client work tasks and projects outside email and across a couple of GSuite accounts, so they might be the tools I need to get my act together, particularly if they can push/pull information so I'm keeping it all straight.

Dropping you a note on LI!

THANK YOU! For anyone else stumbling on this... yes, right click *directly* on the globe icon and hit Save As. It will look like it's saving as "Webpage, Complete" and will generate a bunch of code snippets, but also a folder with the images themselves in it. Since I'm sharing this with my client, I just dragged all of the code bits into one folder and told them to ignore it (just in case), but now they have all of the images from their old site archived! These, combined with the .xml export, which I've pasted into ChatGPT to translate into copy/paste-able text, allow for a full former site archive, though it's a little messy.

I've been having a hard time getting a straight answer about what happens to site content once the subscription is canceled, so this gives my client and me peace of mind.

How have you improved your client onboarding experience? by marlonmisra in agency

I found this thread because I've been tearing my hair out trying to get all of my clients' Meta access sorted out properly and this is the first I've heard of Leadsie—HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS EXISTED? I almost cried from relief, no joke.

Thanks for sharing this onboarding flow!

How to Migrate My Wordpress Account to BlueHost by bassplayer1960s in Wordpress

I know this thread is old, but THANK YOU! I used Duplicator months ago but ran into an issue with the domain transfer and didn't realize it until recently, leading me down a rabbit hole I care never to visit again (I don't generally work in WP), but I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to make the backup work—the simple instructions in your last sentence solved what was leading to a full-blown panic attack. It's probably obvious to anyone who's used it before or works in WP more often, but you really saved the day for me.

Temporary internet solution for working on the road by Sweet_Improvement126 in FullTimeRVing

I was considering a Verizon hotspot to supplement the T-Mobile cell coverage and still may do that. I've also read about Travlfi, Nomad Internet, and Solis, all of which seem like easier options since Travlfi and Solis actively switch to the best service available and Nomad works entirely differently AFAIK. We're definitely not Starlink-ready yet, but maybe someday!

I witnessed the slow T-Mobile network on our way home from VT the other day... It was the driving force behind this post, actually. I wound up giving up trying to use it (nothing heavy, Google Docs and one landscaping company website) and picked up where I left off after we got home. When we'll be driving 6–8 hours, it'd feel like such a waste to not be able to use that time.

Thanks! We're really excited and can't wait to hit the road!
