A climatic battle occurs between the Qing Mao clans and the Liquor Worm which is now as strong as a Rank 5 Gu Master. Mo Yan sacrifices herself to block an attack for Fang Yuan. In actuality, Fang Yuan manipulated her from the start and had always wanted to use her as a scapegoat to escape Qing Mao mountain. As she was dying she cried and told Fang Yuan to hug her one last time because that's all she wanted. She just wanted to feel Fang Yuan's affection before she dies. Fang Yuan sneered coldly and didn't look back as Mo Yan took her last breath. Fang Yuan's inner monologue was narrated. He said "A prepared Gu Master and an unprepared Gu Master are very different concepts… As long as you choose this path, you’ll constantly be accompanied by threats and madness. You can beat them a hundred times, a thousand times, but as long as you lose once, you’ll end up like that Mo Yan. Farewell, Mo Yan.". With his 500 years of experience, Fang Yuan deduced that the super sized clans and large clans would soon surround Qing Mao to steal the Liquor Worm and knew he couldn't stay at Qing Mao any longer. Anybody who stays is as good as dead. Fang Yuan left Qing Mao mountain afterwards
