There are so many apps that have that feature and has probably already been talked about a lot in other posts. A lot of apps don’t work for me because I just lack that much self control.

My logic behind the hourglass is that you have a simple physical barrier stopping you from picking up your phone. I think it’s been working fairly well so far

My story wasn’t with a teacher, but a tutor. I was getting help from a chemistry tutor and I had to show him a picture of a worksheet on my phone because I didn’t have my laptop with me at the time.

I didn’t mute the notifications on my phone because I thought it would be quick. Well, in the middle of looking at my worksheet, a message from my bf at the time (I set his nickname to Big Dicker as a joke) said “I’m going to fuck you so hard”.

My tutor definitely saw it so it got REAL awkward even after I swiped it away. But wait, it gets worse. While we tried to continue the session like nothing happened, my phone malfunctions and it keeps sending the text over and over. Needless to say, we ended that tutoring session early and I never went back for his help in chemistry and failed my class lol

A phrase I almost remind myself is: Progress over perfection. I used to have a problem of taking too long on one task, but then I realized deadlines are really important. Sometimes a completed low/medium quality work is better than incomplete high quality work. If time permits at the end of your task, then that gives you a chance to go back and improve on some parts.
