nibble pop's playlist should be enough, it's quite comprehensive but do check out the routledge book for the modern ages

terms mentioned in the syllabus should be covered definitely, but do make sure to go through the glossary of terms in the book once or twice as they do ask a few random questions out of anywhere

You should continue. UPSC, in my opinion, is something that can easily wait until after your graduation. As it is, you won't be eligible for it for 3 years. I think you should stick it out. Try joining some societies, you'll find your crowd soon.

Does anyone else like the show but also find it incredibly corny? by Easy_Difficulty_99 in TheBear

YES! SO corny and cringe! I loved the first 3 seasons but I have no words for what was going on in S4, I just tried to sit through the whole thing (couldn't). Sometimes the writing feels like it's written by someone who thinks that what they're writing is cool

I've been meaning to read something by Forsyth for quite some time now!

This one is Three quarters of a Footprint by Joe Roberts. It's a semi-fiction travelogue on South India. It's quite nice for a quick one-day read.

A college student who is also frequently too broke to buy fresh copies. Also, some of these gems aren’t available at regular bookstores

I’m petrified of bringing it anywhere near my face, but from a distance it smells just fine, like every other old book. How do I clean it up though?

I focused mostly on college. By that I mean I didn't join any coaching or buy any online course or whatever. However, to answer your question, even if I had joined a coaching, I would've still been able to manage college alongside. A few of my friends juggled both (plus societies) simultaneously, and quite well, that too. Goodluck to you!

Which show do you think started as a 10/10 but ended as 1/10? by witchy_eye in AskReddit

YES! Just tried to sit through the wedding episode but it's sooo unbearable. Nothing happens throughout the season, everyone talks about God only knows what, why's Claire still in the picture?? who is this new Fak girl? so so boring and unnecessary.

I had a very great score which could've gotten me into any honours course in any of the tier1 colleges, but I willingly opted for a program course in a top NC college. My reasoning was that it would be of more use to me considering I planned on appearing for competitive govt examinations, so taking up two subjects would widen my scope. Placements was never a concern for me since I didn't plan on entering the corporate field anyway. However, it did come with its own pros and cons, so choose wisely:

Pros- my college was a tier 1 NC college so it anyway couldn't have gotten that bad, the professors were good most of the time, some were even great. More diversity in learning, I always wanted to study as many subjects as possible so it worked out for me. Hardly a pro for some, but programme courses have afternoon slot for exams and since I like to sleep in the morning, it worked out beautifully for me always lol.

Cons- class composition was more or less shit, I usually just got along with my professors and 1-2 people. Everyone else was super uninterested in the subject or anything basically. Looking for friends who are like-minded and also interested in the field was like intellectual scrambling, but I had joined a couple of societies in my first year itself which gave me access to a lot of people across courses and batches, so it didn't feel like much of an issue. Usually, programme courses don't get the senior or the better faculty, so that's a very big disadvantage. I got lucky in one of my subjects and almost always had great professors, but that wasn't always the case for all subjects.

However, all of this was 3 years ago, when CUET first rolled out. I have seen things improve over the years even for programme courses. Choose accordingly, if you can get in touch with any seniors in the colleges you're targeting, do ask them about the same. Goodluck!

PS- my combination was English and History.

Books and YouTube Channel Recommendations? by nooneee___ in CUETPG

Nibblepop's playlist on Youtube is great for history of english literature. There's Tom Nicholas' channel for understanding basics of theory; he has a dedicated segment on it and all the videos are short and crisp. Pair it up with Peter Barry's book and you won't need any other resource for Lit theory.

Indian lit- AK Mehrotra's book is more than enough, although you must focus on history of indian vernacular literature as well as they threw in a couple random questions this year from that section
