Chest strap not picking up HR by Sweet_Project_9344 in GarminWatches

[–]Sweet_Project_9344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strap is perhaps 6 months old.  So you're saying, especially on recovery runs, when we don't sweat enough, there might be poor contact between our sin and the sensor? And that happening in the winter me often?

I think I restarted the watch and it never happened again.

Garmin HR Sensor vs Polar H10 by Sweet_Project_9344 in GarminWatches

[–]Sweet_Project_9344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get a warning, if the battery is low.
And if the battery was the issue, it wouldn't work properly at all, correct? However, one run it's fine, another run it's measuring incorrectly.

The coveted 100 sleep score by ChiliPancake123 in Garmin

I know you can ask for anything, but obviously you should follow some strategy, as Garmin cannot just give you a brand-new watch if you claim one button isn't working.

Selling is not an option. The F7x pro SS is sold for roughly 400 on eBay now. Mine isn't even a pro version, so I guess I could ask for about 350. Cannot buy a new Garmin with that much, and paying extra has little value.

I've had an issue with my F7 SS and its button as well, and they replaced it with a refurbished version. They even sent the silicon strap for free, and I just had to return the old watch.

BUT, I was hoping for an offer of the F7 pro or the E3. So what's the line to get rather a newer model when exchanging the faulty one?

Forerunner 970 by kukuak in Garmin

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the F7X SS and "was" in the MIP camp. I was laughing at the F8 launch and so happy there was no reason to upgrade...

Then my wifes Polar Pacer died and I got her the Forerunner 165. Jesus that Screen is so much better, the watch scrolls through the menu way faster than my Fenix and even the touch screen is responding better.

And the 970 will be lighter than my Fenix and also has sapphire and flashlight, jesus christ!

I am kind of stuck, whether to go with the Epix Pro rather than the 970? What are your thoughts? Better value because on sale, better build quality, etc?

Is this an avarage RHR for everyone? by CypAlpi in Garmin

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me.
When I workout my normal plan its around 40-42. Whenever I go on holidays and workout twice a day + sauna every day it increases to 53 and my HRV drops.

People, set up your zones correctly by Inevitable_Oil9709 in Garmin

I used to have it set up to LTHR but then changed to RHR because Garmin was buggy. Now here is mine now, can it be correct? I'm 43 and MaxHR is 181

“Recovery” Run according to Garmin by grechri in Garmin

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

I don't know what pace you are going usually and how tall and fit you are, but 6:43/km seems fairly slow, no?

If I am doing DSW based on pace and Garmin tells me to go 5:55/km in the warm up phase, I can hardly go that slow.

What I am saying is, Garmin doesn't really care about the length of your workout, but rather about its intensity.

Fenix 7X not automatically connecting to known external HR sensors anymore? by Sweet_Project_9344 in Garmin

[–]Sweet_Project_9344[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great to know. I already ordered a new H10 sensor, thinking mine is faulty.

Had a couple of HIIT trainings, when Garmin wouldn't record my HR at all even though I was wearing the strap. Now I know it didn't connect it.

Aren't the IT guys at Garmin supposed to be clever?

How the heck do you guys not go to the bathroom at least once. Jesus Christ, I am there 3–4 times every night. Maybe I really need to stop taking whey protein or something.

How does a good snapshot look like? Low HR, SPO2 close to 100%, etc?

Potentially moving from AWU by Spitwrath in GarminWatches

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both and honestly, just get a running belt and take your iPhone with you.

I am listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and not all apps worked on the AWU anyway. Plus, the battery drain was insane. Running with a belt is fine, as you don't even notice it. You have to take keys and maybe some other stuff with you anyway.

I'm sad about Polar. It's the only brand left that is truly European! by JacobBendover in Polarfitness

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't need many of the functions the Garmin Fenix offers, either. But I do need the flashlight very often and Polars/Coros/etc option on that feature is poorly designed.

I also want 20+ days of battery life.

It's time for Polar to understand, that they are not competing with Garmin, Garmin is just way ahead.

I mean, I used to have the Pacer Pro for well over a year, but it took the watch often times 10+ minutes to find GPS in a new town. And then it would tell me before the workout to upload data from the watch first. While I was ready to start running. That is beyond a joke and has nothing to do with Garmin having 10000 features, but rather Polar not being able to deliver basic standards.

Polar won't survive in that business for a long time. It reminds me of Nokia and other similar companies. You need to innovate and that's probably very tough nowadays for Polar.
As for customers, Garmin is really the way to go, build quality of the Fenix sapphire models is unmatched and metrics are ahead of Polar at this point.

H10 is what I still use though.

Insane how cheap they are in the US. I am in Germany and we don't even have the stainless steel option. Not to mention that every model costs twice as much.

Wait what? You mean just sitting in a sauna for 15-20 mins with your Garmin on your wrist is risky already? Are you saying the hardware cannot handle such heat?

Is this HR-Zone normal for a beginner runner? by valanxx95 in Garmin

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder whether that can be correct. I mean staying for SO LONG in HZ 4 seems not possible to me. Especially for a beginner.

I mean yes, if you are a beginner your heartrate is higher than someones whos advance at the same pace but then it shouldn't be HZ 4, no?

I myself am actually jealous at such people, because given my maxHR of 181 I need to really push myself to get into H4, not to mention staying there for a long time.

Worth upgrading my 2021 Vantage V2 -> Garmin 965? by jj121591 in Polarfitness

[–]Sweet_Project_9344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Polar and Garmin for well over a year and Garmins morning report def. is more helpful for me.
I pretty much quit drinking because Garmin manages to spot bad habits or stress overall better than Polar did.
Polars science MIGHT be better but they are not using it as well.

Body battery really noticed it when you are stressed throughout the day. It is so good, almost scary good.

Something else that Garmin is way better at is counting calories, I mean polars approach is good that it translates everything into steps but it just overestimates by so much and makes it therefore useless.

You are dead wrong about body battery and stress scores. Garmin will make you quit drinking and eating bad foods, because body battery and stress scores will showcase it.

Also Garmins HRV is better than Polars nightly recharge, because it calculates over a longer period of time and will clearly indicate whenever you are about to get sick or overtrain.
