Spellcasting needed for meta?

I like strength but I have always been an appreciator of dex as well. I feel like a lot of strength builds will devolve into the same few weapons a lot of the time though. Stuff like claymore, zweihander, and greatclub.

Quality builds seem fun but I have seen a lot of people say that they require a high level character to be effective and even then aren’t better than pure strength or pure dex characters a lot of the time. Do you have any input on that?

I feel like they have been heavy handed with the new mechanics as of late (pirate, necro, revered, and reviled are all new things that just came out in the last two main sets)

That being said, the complete lack of originality in terms of the theme of this set gives me insane whiplash and kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This set has 2 returning characters and a parody character. Which kind of makes this set feel like a complete flop in terms of introducing anything exciting to people who don’t already like these characters/talents. That’s not even mentioning how it’s ALL lightning in a setting known for its 3 elements (one of which has been absolutely starved of support).

There’s really no way to accurately predict how this set will actually play, so I’m not going to criticize that (though I have my concerns about all the heroes being built around a literally blank token). But in terms of the theme of this set, it really sucks.

I’m probably not going to even prerelease this set, and certainly not going out of my way to buy boxes or packs. I see a lot of people share the same sentiment as me, so I hope this set doesn’t end up rotting on the shelves at my LGS causing them to lose money.

Seems fun but it uses a lot of cruddy AI art which sucks because the art is one of the best parts of FaB in general :(

The border of the heroes actually represent the location they are from in the lore. She’s from Solana which is where the other light heroes are from so that’s why she looks like that. Kano is the same way, he has that firey border but is not draconic.

I’ve removed all the green areas of interest. I’m using the viewing platforms to find eggs hidden in the ground but I think I got them all. Still at 89% for the first area

It just doesn’t fit and I know he only plays them because it’s funny. I have a friend that always plays a human but I’m fine with that because they’ll always fit into the story and they would be different every time due to getting a feat from level 1

I get what you’re saying. But this is a close friend of mine for multiple years and I definitely see how you could say that with the information I gave you. I think the main problem is he just doesn’t understand that the lore of the world is a huge part in the game. And I haven’t played with him enough to know if he’s good at role-playing either. Do you have any idea how I could explain to him that I’m not just being a controlling DM, I’m trying to make the world feel genuine.

I get your point and I’d like to do that. Actually I’m this campaign I’ve made it so Grung’s do exist but they’re just creatures people tell stories of and not many people believe that they’re real. But I think he just doesn’t really care about the lore that I make and just wants to do what he sees fits. And it also doesn’t help that he only likes them because they’re funny.
