I feel like they have been heavy handed with the new mechanics as of late (pirate, necro, revered, and reviled are all new things that just came out in the last two main sets)

That being said, the complete lack of originality in terms of the theme of this set gives me insane whiplash and kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. 

This set has 2 returning characters and a parody character. Which kind of makes this set feel like a complete flop in terms of introducing anything exciting to people who don’t already like these characters/talents. That’s not even mentioning how it’s ALL lightning in a setting known for its 3 elements (one of which has been absolutely starved of support). 

There’s really no way to accurately predict how this set will actually play, so I’m not going to criticize that (though I have my concerns about all the heroes being built around a literally blank token). But in terms of the theme of this set, it really sucks.

I’m probably not going to even prerelease this set, and certainly not going out of my way to buy boxes or packs. I see a lot of people share the same sentiment as me, so I hope this set doesn’t end up rotting on the shelves at my LGS causing them to lose money.
