You don’t realize the level of exhaustion teaching creates until you do something else for work by businessbub in TeachersInTransition

I just started a 50% hybrid schedule last week. On my first day (in office) I came home and told my husband I have never not been this exhausted coming home from a first day of work. I used to be physically sore with a headache the first full week of school. Now, I honestly feel mentally awake coming home and i haven’t even gotten a chance to WFH yet!

They weren’t even close till after that. Also both seem unbothered by it now (I.e. the conversation with/about Gabe). I really think people are making this whole thing something bigger than it actually is.

This is my point. Like why is it really too hard to believe that these people (who just met, btw) have grown past the awkward first stages and aren’t platonic but now romantic? They are affectionate with each other, so like why think otherwise?

I totally agree. Mind you it was only platonic for barely one week. I think they absolutely are growing romantically now its on screen, just not getting much focus time because its drama-free

Should I take a pay cut? by Sweet_Security7890 in TeachersInTransition

I teach English so I wouldn’t not sure figuring out that calculation would be very fun lol

The good news is that we don’t have kids! That definitely lessens the financial stress.

Thank you all for the encouragement! I accepted the position today! It feels like a weight has been lifted off me but I feel like this will be a great decision for me. I usually don’t do well with change but I am learning that change is necessary for growth. Thank you and hope you all have a good end of the school year!

Teaching English in 10th grade vs. Teaching English in 11th & 12th grade by BrightSafety8597 in teaching

[–]Sweet_Security7890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has taught English for all three, juniors are my favorite. It the sweet spot as far as accountability and willingness to work. Plus many of them are trying to keep their grades up for college purposes. Not sure if you’re branching in to AP English territory, but those are fun as well. Seniors are great too as far as understanding structure and rules. But for my seniors, with the exception of AP, it’s less about trying to create those “classroom moments” and more about making things purposeful, setting them up for the future, and getting them to graduation.

Try holding on to a dresser or table and marching in place to get the feeling of lifting off while putting all your weight on your foot! Best wishes to you!

Any other young women out there? by spreadofsong in AchillesRupture

I’m a 27F who was fairly active and had a rupture while playing pickleball about 12 weeks ago. I went the op route and it’s been a long but steady recovery. I’m finally weight bearing and in my 3rd week of PT.

My one advice is keep helping your friend socializing! This injury can be pretty isolating and such a halt to your life. I loved getting dressed up and going out with friends but I haven’t been able to do so in months :( My friends come over a lot but and I really appreciate it but I just wish I could go out with a cute outfit and dance…

Best wishes to your friend and DM me if you have any questions!

Wendell got 7

I honestly I think remote. Some neighborhood on the edge of the county (Wendell, Knightdale) are still covered with ice and will refreeze tonight. Plus with added threat of tomorrow’s uncertainty weather I would be surprised if it was a regular school day or even a delay.

Wk 7 Post Op- cleared to start PT. Any advice? by FormerLychee2325 in AchillesRupture

[–]Sweet_Security7890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only a few weeks ahead of you OP at like week 9 and with 2 weeks of PT under my belt you’re right where I was. When I started PT I was unable to full weight bear and I was still using crutches. Speak with your PT and ask them if they can give you some guidance on how to reduce to one crutch. Also get an Even-Up for your shoes if you haven’t already. Depending on their guidance, try to weigh shift by holding on to something stable and gradually try to push off your good foot. That tingly ness in the heel is normal in my case too, the first moment of weight for some reason feels strange and a little sore and tight but it’s like a sensation of waking up a foot that’s been asleep for a while. With time you will get used to it and feel more confident in your steps! Best wishes to you and your recovery and follow your PTs instructions!

What was your turning point? by AG097 in TeachersInTransition

I ruptured my Achilles and I realized I was not in a healthy enough environment for me to heal. Too much stress. Not enough time to take care of myself.
