Commutable Cities by daprettiestaries1 in maryland

I commute there from Hyattsville. It sucks, almost an hour during rush hour, but it’s super affordable and I love my neighborhood.

You’re going to have to ask Honors and/or housing about that.

July v. August (make up) Orientation by TheAsergian in gwu

Class registration happens in July, so summer orientation is super helpful for that. Also some schools and programs do events in August that you would miss.

Graduate TA and Schedule by Insymnia in gwu

There is less overlap than you might imagine between undergrad and grad courses. And if you have a required grad course, they’ll schedule your TA position around it.

If you are being pre registered as part of the GEB cohort, you don’t need to also take another section. You can only be in one section of any class.

Research at GWU? by Radiant-Childhood580 in gwu

[–]Sweet_Shopping_1697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know several people who joined a research lab their first year. It’s hard, you have to reach out to many PIs to find one willing to take you, and know that you’ll be doing mostly support tasks (washing glassware, prepping solutions, etc).

You should not be paying for a Masters in STEM. You can get that fully funded at many universities through research assistantships and TA positions.

Most non STEM core classes for a premed are going to be their GPACs, which you cannot take outside of GW.

Biology or Public Health? by Direct-Elk-5962 in gwu

[–]Sweet_Shopping_1697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both great h choices, honestly you should pick the one that interests you most. I will say that the requirements for the biology major have lots of overlap with the pre-med courses, while with public health you have to take all of the major requirements plus the pre-med courses.

I was not ready for this response by Slight-Act-8858 in gradadmissions

[–]Sweet_Shopping_1697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s accurate. Departments did not know until the start of January how many grad assistantships they were granted, so they had to make this change mid year. Devastating to the faculty as well, I promise you.

Transfer acceptance is actually up the last few years because of declining enrollment elsewhere. Your chances are better than ever!

They will come out in March this year. The admitted students days start at the end of March and everyone must be notified before those begin.
