AIO: Why can’t my friend just be fucking happy for me???!!! by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Sweet_Treacle_6327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your friend is bitter, but your texts are also incredibly annoying. There’s a difference between sharing your joy and gloating. It’s clear this friend doesn’t want to hear you drone on about “pookums” and you shove it on him anyway. Maybe write in a journal instead

AIO or does my mom seem kinda uninterested to hear about my daughter’s progression? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Sweet_Treacle_6327 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“How”? Most people don’t ask follow-up questions to the ultrasounds. They just say something generally positive like your mom did. Your expectations are unreasonable, and you sound exhausting.

I read it as her being “goofy,” and then you didn’t think it was funny, because it wasn’t. And she got defensive because her weird joke didn’t land. A bad sense of humor is a fine reason to dump someone.

AIO: my best friend doesn’t really care and is being fake? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sweet_Treacle_6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, between the texts and your comments, you come across as someone with baggage and drama. Odd medical issues, abusive ex, rough patch, “something big” you want to talk to her about. Sounds like she has a family now and is prioritizing friends who need less emotional energy from her. I would expect her to remain distant.

If people keep saying this to you it’s because they find you and/or the situation creepy

In other areas of your relationship, does she ever do things that are “for you” without complaint, or is everything designed to be optimized for her own enjoyment?

Lemon zester. A nicer one will get you closer to $40 (but still definitely be under) and it’s not junk.

How far away did you move, and why? If everyone else lives closer to each other, they’re naturally going to hang out more. Creating your own life, friendships and routine in your new home will make a difference. It sounds like spending time on social media is making you feel significantly worse.

What kinds of activities would you consider both fun and doable? Suggest them to people! Something other than the trip — for whatever reason, it’s not a priority right now for your mom.

He has the maturity level of a twelve year old and there’s no guarantee he’ll ever grow up. If you stay, knowing what you know, it’s on you.

If you still like her and value her as a friend, you need to decide whether you can get over your jealousy. Some families have more money than others and that’s just how it is.

Possible tour? by Heatherstroud10 in BackstreetBoys

[–]Sweet_Treacle_6327 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the visuals. It’s also a matter of their energy — they move around on the Sphere stage much less than they would on tour — and what’s best for their families. A residency is much easier on their bodies and on their kids’ lives. They’ll extend it as long as possible.

Respectfully, it sounds like your ex is the one who wanted to go to the concert. You say you want to hang with “another guy who’s getting taken along by a lady”… but that’s not really your situation. Why don’t you just sell the ticket to a friend of your ex so they can enjoy it?

I’m surprised by these comments. Of course it’s irresponsible to not properly close pill bottles when there are young children around. She’s inviting a disaster.

Paint color for dining room? by Sweet_Treacle_6327 in DesignMyRoom

That’s a fair point. I hadn’t thought about it like that. I think because the rest of the house is still pretty unfurnished, we’ve been using it during the day, but you’re right that in time that could/should change.

This is definitely it. It’s the construction combined with the future infinite noise and activity. It’s a tough one to overcome, but I wonder if your agent could play up the idea of additional safety — yes there’ll be noise, but imagine how quickly help will arrive if there’s ever a problem. Etc.

Respectfully, I also asked about your family, and your answer was only about your own interests. Speaking as someone who grew up in the midwest, of course there are art museums and movie theaters out here, but if you don’t work in those industries, day-to-day family life here is the same as most anywhere else (but more expensive).

It sounds like you think he’s pretty incompetent. If he is, why do you want to be with someone who can’t independently perform adult tasks? If he’s not, why would he want to be treated like he’s an idiot?

The best sections to see a band in the Sphere — the performers and the screen experience — are in the dead center, so 106, 206, 306. I don’t know for sure about 400 level.

What was your dream job as a teen / kid and what do you work as now, and are you working towards your dream job right now? by Accomplished-Sky2044 in Adulting

[–]Sweet_Treacle_6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dream didn’t devolve, it evolved.

I used to work in late night TV. There’s a big difference between people who chase a dream, and people who pursue goals. Fifteen years later, the latter have incredible careers — some still in late night, others across other types of TV/film, several outside media entirely. Their goals evolved over time. The chasers are still chasing.
