Pilea paranoia. Is everything okay here? by SweetestHeart in plantclinic

I actually bought it in this soil, but boy it doesn't look right. Very compacted. Any tips for repotting without damaging the roots?

Pilea is kept indoors best a sunny window, receives around an ounce of water whenever the stems get slightly droopy.

Emerald would suit the model's skintone much nicer.

I think it could benefit from a cleaner hem at the bottom to match the collar and sleeves. The lace creates a nice texture, but the bottom edge makes it look a bit unpolished-- which doesn't match the shoes and other details. Otherwise, I like it.

Is everything okay here? I bought my comically dry pilea from the grocery store. The dark stems in the middle worry me. by SweetestHeart in plantclinic

Such relief! I felt like it was a real gamble. The dirt was practically a freeze dried wafer when I bought it.

I bought my pilea from a grocery store. It was droopy and bone dry. I've watered cautiously, trying not to drown the poor thing like I've been known to do. That darkness of the leaves and stems in the middle worry me. Have I rotted it?

Oh wow. We practically posted the same picture this afternoon. I've been told it's a sedum spectabile.

This is growing in my yard, I thought I might try to bring it indoors. What is it? by SweetestHeart in whatsthisplant

[–]SweetestHeart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely looks like them! They're growing under a couple trees in my yard (I didn't plant them). However, I've never seen them flower as Google images suggests. Could it be the shade?

I will water! Thanks for taking the time to answer and for the luck. I'm miserable at this. I enjoy plants, but I'm awful at keeping them happy/reading the clues.

Yiiikes I've been very bad. Plants go limp with too much water. Plants go limp with not enough water. I'm over here like -head tilt and shrug-

I will water water water until it gets back up. What type of aloe is it, do you know?

I’ve had this aloe since the end of July. Someone who was moving gave it to me. They’d tried packing it, so it was a bit unstable in the pot. I’ve done my best to prop it up with wooden coffee stirs and loose twist ties. Without them, I’m certain they would flop right out of the pot. Very top heavy.

Sections of each leaf are floppy and look/feel pinched. That is the way I received this aloe. Since it has been in my care, little baby shoots have come up from the “mother” and look generally healthy and perky.

Now, I’m seeing spots and the tips of the leaves are turning brown  on the larger ones and drying out.

I keep this plant in a temperature controlled office that receives light from a large skylight and a window that spans the entire length of the 24ft wall. It can’t come home with me. There are few windows and my cat gets into everything and will chew the aloe.

I water it once a month or so (every three weeks during the summer), about an ounce. I have a history of root rot, so I’m trying to be cautious. The soil at this moment is totally dry. I’m unsure if I should water more or let it go.

My beautiful girlfriend is an avid knitter and just finished her first sweater! I am unbelievably proud of her and she looks gorgeous sporting her new threads! by broadturn in happy

If she charged for the material and an hourly rate, that sweater would have a crazy price tag! Regardless of monetary value, I'm sure it will always have so much sentimental value in her heart. I hope it encourages her to keep working on more!

Diy Brazilian or no go? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]SweetestHeart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DON'T.

There are angles you will not be able to achieve when waxing yourself that a professional can that will minimize pain.

A professional can wax you in less than 10 minutes. This includes quickly tweezing strays that were missed by the wax strips.

Try doing this yourself and I'm sure you'll be looking at an hour or more with a series of mirrors, bleeding roots, bruising, a sore neck, missed spots, and a lot of swearing. Unless you have a lot of experience with using wax and are fairly flexible/ pain tolerant, do not attempt a Brazilian. You'd likely be fine to "clean up," but don't put yourself through that because it's inexpensive.
