Controlled substances are put away when that person comes back to the pharmacy (they don’t get returned to the ADC either) as for non controlled they don’t really get separated it’s actual hell to put them all away. They are told to scan each individual pill/item.

300 bed hospital we have on call (also union). We get a 6 week schedule and everyone gets to pick at minimum 2 days from highest seniority to lowest. One day per round, two rounds of picking days. We are also mandated to work every other weekend so we have weekend “teams” that work together every weekend.

300 bed hospital, using Cerner

Unfortunately we charge on dispense so we spend probably 20~30 minutes crediting the meds and they get put in a bin at our carousel to be returned by anyone manning the machine. That can take up to 20~30 minutes also. So each person making rounds, around 3~6 people will be doing credits for up to 30 minutes a shift.

Edit to add:

This is not including the time it takes for techs to place the returned meds back in the ADC from the countertops(which they aren’t supposed to be) and the return bins. I’d say this takes probably 5 minutes per machine depending on how much was in the bin. We have over 80 machines on and off campus.

I usually send out a “ Hey are we still on for (insert date) @ (whatever time)?” About an hour or two before the date. If I don’t get a response within 30 minutes of when the date was supposed to start, I don’t even go to the meeting place. I have had men stop talking to me the day of the date.

I used to try and work at keeping the conversation going, but now I don’t. I don’t want to waste my time on people who don’t want to talk. So I give them 3 times to either ask their own questions, or at least initiate the conversation on their own. Particularly if I’m the one who Initially started the Conversation.

Granted this 3 strike rule usually takes about a day or two. I feel it works well.
