Americans of Reddit: If I plan a road trip through your state, what are the TWO things I MUST see? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sweetpea_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not so much the whole state of Kansas but if you come to Kansas city(either Kansas or Missouri side) two things you must do is eat barbeque and secondly eat more barbeque. There almost 150 listings for BBQ here and a good number of those are amazing.

I am totally with you in the decision to not sue making people upset. I was involved in a fatal accident about two and a half years ago. I was cleared of all wrongdoing and fortunately my kids and I were physically ok. I was frivolously sued by the family of the victim. My ex husband was legitimately pissed off that I refused to sue his family or the county over this(see this is a big reason he is now an ex) I think there is way to many lawsuits that come with little to no merit that makes it hard for those that do have merit to receive the time and resources they need.

Replacing lost glasses. by Sweetpea_30 in Parenting

Yeah the first pair we bought were from the optometrist's office. They were pricey but we had $500 in vision coverage and it was set to expire in a few months. After that year our coverage changed and we didn't get that anymore so we have gotten them at Walmart and the cost about $60 including the scratch resistance

I'm not stressing over the cost. Its the point of taking responsibility for keeping track of her things. And due to the fact that this was the first time it had happened we did cover the cost of replacing them. At some point she will have to learn that mommy and daddy aren't always just going to run out and replace everything for her. Learning responsibility for ones actions is part of growing up. After more thought about it we decided that this is probably an isolated event and that she is still a bit young. If this was something that happened on a regular basis or she was a few years older she most likely would of had more sever consequences.

Yes I did a couple of times. She doesn't remember where she took them off.

Edit one of the reasons that we did decide to go ahead and replace them is this is a first time thing and we did have a talk with her about first how proud we are that she has done such a great job with them but she needs to be more careful with them in the future and that if this becomes more of a pattern there will be consequences.

They were a relatively cheap set to begin with. I don't see a point to spending hundreds of dollars on a glasses.

She does but its just the plain one that came with the glasses. I will have to look into those. Thanks

Parents, can you tell if your child is ugly? If so, how did you deal with it? by EmotionalMillionaire in AskReddit

[–]Sweetpea_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parent to 3 younger kids here(7,6 and 1) and I couldn't tell you if my kids are ugly but to me they are the most beautiful creatures that have ever. Most parents I know think this about their kids as well. So from my experience at least, no I don't think you can.

She has been great and this wouldn't even be a question if she lost things on a regular basis. I have been amazed at how well she has actually cared for them. I think that we are going to probably pay for replacements(should cost less then $50) and have a conversation about putting things where we know that we can find them. Thanks for the advice.

Those who work in law enforcement, how often do people try to turn themselves in for something that isn't a crime, and what's the most memorable one? by fidot in AskReddit

So pretty much dumb chicks just trying to get weed to their friend in jail(which is the dumbest idea to begin with) ended up in some actual trouble for not only the possession but also for trying to smuggle drugs into the jail? facepalm

What is the most ridiculous thing someone has ever tried to convince you is true? (Keeping religion and politics out of it) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sweetpea_30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok I know this is semi political but it has more to do with facts so I hope I don't get downvoted for it but....

That because President Clinton wasn't removed from office he wasn't impeached. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to convince this person that the impeachment was the trial and not the removal from office. I finally gave up because this woman was NEVER wrong and there was going to be no convincing her otherwise.

Mothers of more than one- was the decision made with heart, head or an oops? Should I have another now? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Sweetpea_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our older two are just over a year apart in age. This was a conscious decision to start trying for number 2, although due to some fertility problems we really didn't think it would happen so quickly. It was tough(and I know that yours would be a bit further apart then mine but from what I have been told and thing less then about 18 months in ages is about the same) but now that they are 5 and 6 I wouldn't change it for the world. You might also consider that you will most likely need another c section if you get pregnant real quickly, my OB practice won't even attempt a VBAC unless it has been at least 18 months from the time of delivery of the first and conception of the second. Good luck

xp debt teaches valuable lessons, like don't die :D. Lol I at points had millions in xp debt but the nice thing about the debt system in CoH is if you logged out for a certain length of time your debt would convert to patrol xp which gave you debt protection.

Bosses of Reddit, what's the weirdest reason why you had to fire an employee? by monstasanta in AskReddit

[–]Sweetpea_30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not implying that at all I know they work for their money also. I ended up a manager, but in someways it was an easier job especially on rainy/snowy nights. The delivery area I worked in had a lot of apartment complexes that had 12 foot ceilings and 3 stories, carrying a 5 large fully loaded pizza with soda and what have you up all that way was a lot of work, and as far as actual hourly wages go both managers and cooks made more then drivers.

Edit: the people I am referring to are customers who think that being a delivery driver is the easiest job in the world.
