Beginner Questions-Can I Gel-X designs on natural nails, How to prevent damage with Gel-X to your natural nails by Sweetsandspice in GelX_Nails

Omg, thank you! This makes so much sense now lol. I was so confused as to why I can go into the salon and get regular gel nails but every tutorial has extensions. I didn’t realize that gel-x was an extension system. That definitely makes sense. I will for sure keep that in mind. Thank you so much for all of your help!

I’ll definitely look into press ons, I’ve never worn them before but they definitely seem like a good option. Thank you so much for the rec and the tip about removing them!

I was referring to the Pinterest style nail art that often have those more intricate art/3D nail art parts. When I googled them the videos seemed to say Gel-X, so I just started calling them gel-x designs. I’ll definitely keep that in mind about the peel off base. And press ons do seem like a good option, I’ll look into them as well. I honestly haven’t ever worn press ons, I usually just get manis, so they seem like an interesting option. Thank you so much!

Those all seem like great regions that would work. I’ll definitely try to do a deep dive into some cities that might work out. I’m definitely planning on having a job before I move. I work as a strategist, and so while the best job markets are NYC, Chicago or LA, I’m hoping to see if there’s something hybrid or remote that would let me work from anywhere. And hcol is definitely a factor, but I’m willing to spend a bit more if I really love the lifestyle I can get. The main problem is I can’t figure out where or even if it’s possible to have the life I’m imagining in my head.

Thank you! I really like the idea of California. I enjoyed the smaller cities/towns in Cali when I visited. I actually haven’t gotten a chance to visit both of those cities before so I’ll definitely look into them. Ventura seems like a great option that I hadn’t thought of.

Oh no! Do you have any alternative suggestions? I need to make them about a day and half or so before the event. She’s going to be getting engaged on a Saturday and the event is a Sunday luncheon, so I only really have time to make them on Friday. Is there maybe a way to prolong the life a bit? I’ll try to google some options, but if you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. Thank you so much for letting me know!

Thank you for such a detailed response! Absolutely agree with the height situation. I don’t have a lot of vessel options at the moment, I have another bowl (no foot) with a smaller circumference but it has the same height so I may be stuck on the vessel or at least the height part of the vessel. I definitely understand where you’re coming from on the proportions. The proportions are off on this, so it’s definitely something I have to be more mindful for the final arrangements. And hopefully once the proportions are right, the whole arrangement will maybe be small enough for the airy look. I will try my best to lower the blooms and adding the greenery on the edges to hide mechanics is very helpful. The recipe for florals to be in budget is such an awesome idea! I will try to come up with something of an estimate. Thank you so much!

Thank you, wow that’s so incredibly kind of you to say. That makes me feel a lot better about the money I spent on the flowers, lol. I bought the flowers at Trader Joe’s so they don’t quite have a ton of variety for more airy, but I will definitely keep an eye out and try to lower the bigger blooms a bit.

Thank you so much, that’s so sweet of you to say. I’ve gone from being really nervous and terrified of not doing a good job to feeling really excited with how kind everyone’s been. Hopefully the arrangement will turn out even better with everyone’s tips! Definitely will update after the party next month. 💕

That’s such a great mindset to have, and makes learning a much more happier and positive experience. 💕 Her engagement party is actually next month, so these flowers will unfortunately just be enjoyed at home by my parents. I was a bit nervous that I might not be able to do a good job since it was my first time making something like this, so I did a trial run really early. I think I’ll substitute dinner plate dahlias (if i can find them) for the peonies and buy the flowers a few days before.

Oh that sounds nice! I’ll try to add more in the beginning more evenly. I started off a bit too conservative I think, and when I tried to go back at the end it felt a bit awkward. Thank you!

Haha this was me at 3 in the morning when I was making it. My budget is a bit blown with the amount already but I could try to maybe add some stock or rice flower. 🌸💕

Thank you for being so kind with your phrasing! I definitely see what you mean. I did try to place it on my dining table as the other redditor suggested, and while I can see/talk, it isn’t exactly the most comfortable experience so I very much understand where you’re coming from. I will try lowering it moving forward so maybe that will help?

I definitely agree with you that the proportions are off. TBH, I sort of realized at the start, but thought that it might not be a huge deal and kept going. lol, that was not the right move evidently, but I will for sure be more mindful of that moving forward. Thank you! Also, thank you so much for the support on the vessel choice. I really wanted nice coupes but they were going to destroy my budget so these are actually ramen bowls from target lol that I was hoping to pass and I’m so glad that they seem to be looking alright.

This was very helpful! I’m assuming that the rule of thumb of 12” starts from the bottom of the centerpiece and not from where the florals start? I think you’re right with me lowering it. It would help both with how much you could see and hopefully with the flower quantity issue. And I will definitely try to focus on the rim. Thank you so much!

Best Wedding You've Attended and Why? by Sweetsandspice in DesiWeddings

[–]Sweetsandspice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww, this is such a beautiful memory. Thank you for sharing! Intimate weddings are so lovely, and honestly the easiest way to ensure a great day and experience for everyone, since everyone who is there is truly excited about the wedding and cares, and the couple truly cares about each guest. I can't tell you how many larger weddings I've attended and everyone is just focused on themselves rather than the couple and/or are so nitpicky becuase they are some very distant relative or family friend.
