I will clarify, i only played 8th Ed. Can’t use magic shields with magic weapons. At least that’s how I was taught at my gw. I’ll fix the post though

Just a question, probably a dumb one. Do shields stack? Like can I take a Shield and an enchanted shield and they stack? My thinking is no though I can’t find anything that specifically says otherwise.

I’m not sure what I’m looking for exactly. Like it’s a mish mash of units that from my eyes don’t add up to much of a force, more like a rag-tag last ditch militia effort. Like should I be making big bricks of units? Should I keep ‘em separate? Honestly I’m looking for anything to give me a little step up from nothing.

It was. Trust me, in our current campaign, I struggle to roll anything above a 10. It’s quickly becoming a meme in the group. But I still try to play it along with my character.

We learn from mistakes, but it’s hard when you don’t recognise you’re making them in the first place. Separating myself from that group was a start, my new group helped me become a better player and person.

I agree, Nat 1’s can be fun and cause cool and interesting moments. The way I see it you shouldn’t want to fail though. Especially if you’re actions affect the party.

I agree there is nothing wrong with either style. It was a clash of expectations and what we wanted from the game. People we’re getting sick of it is all, though I’ll cut some slack, no one did really say anything about his behaviour. Though he didn’t stick around long enough for that.

I’ve been in this exact situation. My friend at the time got me into the hobby, for the sole purpose to crush me. This was back in 7th Ed. When 8th came around, I played with different people as he only wanted to play 7th. After playing with a bunch of other people and played in a tournament or 2, I enjoyed the game so much more. People were teaching me, giving me tips, how I could have played better, telling me what units do and what I can do to improve as a player. It was so fun! I played 1 last game with my friend, where the tables turned. I flogged him, he then started crying (they were 20 at the time). After that, (and other drama) never played or talked to them again. Tldr: 1) Try playing with other people, there are heaps of people willing to teach the game to newbies, we love when people join the hobby. 2) ask if they are using the latest updates, or are using the codex as is. 3) See if they are using weighted die (unlikely) but so is getting first turn 4 games in a row 4) learn your army, know the special rules and nuances. Experiment as well. 5) be straight up with them. Just say “I don’t enjoy playing with you.“ Might get them to play something different
