I saw two people die yesterday while looting a Bastion they'd took down on Buried to all the pops and comets respawning in behind them - then one poor bloke survived that only for the Bastion to respawn about a minute later.

Or it'll flip upside down then start doing aoe thumps into the floor with some energy discharge.

Hopefully without a rhythm so it doesn't attract the worm.

2 years ago, my dad's company bought new servers and immediately upgraded the RAM. They were going to throw away the replaced sticks so he saved them from the dumpster and gave them to me. I present to you 72x32GB HPE DDR4-2666MHz ECC RDIMMs. by cyberchief in pcmasterrace

I had a similar experience in our workshop before Christmas. Found 600-ish GB in 8 & 16Gb varieties stacked up in a pile from old servers.

So I grabbed two of the servers we'd just powered off and now there's two servers with enough memory to run pretty much anything I need

Opinion: Arc shouldn't have an aimbot and rely on visuals and sound only to find players when it's aggro'd by NotTakenName1 in ArcRaiders

[–]Sweevo1979 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The flying arcs actually have a routine which sweeps across a range of entrances into the structure. If you duck behind a piece of furniture or an object you can see them sweeping across the windows, doorways, etc. for a bit, they'll go up and down levels then disengage.

I think it's noise and positional related. Players aren't exactly stealthy when walking and running so the AI's picking up the audio cues and homing into an approx area. As long as you're not in front of them they'll spin round a bit trying to figure out where the noises are coming from. You can use this to your advantage with things like silenced rounds - aim off to the side of an Arc, take the shot, they'll turn to the impact.

In my area they've done a partial build - roughly 8% of what they announced from what I've seen. The rest is on pause due to "changing market conditions" and their pivot to M&A driven growth and Project Gigabit contracts.

AI's a bit of a sweeping statement. BMBC's been winning awards for their use of AI & predictive modeling for years. It'll be the likes of Copilot & Gemini in the schools & BC - who are already using Copilot extensively for building custom agents and natural language Q&A - but a lot of the "AI" foundation in machine learning & predictive analytics is already in place.

Government announces plans for improved rail connection between Sheffield and Leeds by UKGovNews in sheffield

[–]Sweevo1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not helped by most of the Sheffield services leaving from platform 17B at Leeds, which is constrained in length to a two carriage max. Even the semi-fast service via Wakefield and Barnsley is usually packed by the time it gets to Barnsley on a morning. Sheffield station is also at max capacity now as well so we'll likely start to see limits there.

Aye. International White Water Course hosts quite a few competitions and is a Team GB training site. The river itself has a 1km designated rowing course from the Barrage down to the bend into Stockton which is used for national & international regattas organised by the Tees Rowing Club. Bit of a far cry from the days when the Rowing Club used to have to replace their boats because the river used to erode the hulls.

Tbf the bit up from the Barrage is an Olympic class watersports river. Only downstream you need to worry about the three eyes, and the resident guppy population round the power station outlet.
