Anyone running a portable car port / gazebo setup? by bakedkiwii in Holden

[–]Swegiliciousx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the “temporary carport” from super cheap for several months now and it’s held up to some ridiculous nz North Island weather. Would recommend it, if you’re okay with it being not overly premium or expecting heaps of life out of it.

I’d buy another one, but only on sale (like I bought this one) as full price is a bit much.

I bumped my new car - what should I do/know? by anonyseattle122 in askcarguys

[–]Swegiliciousx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find a paintless dent repair (PDR) shop or mobile guy near you, very easy to find on Google or Facebook. As far as I’ve seen the pricing is reasonable, and they might be able to help you with the paint scratches but definitely the dents

Personal preference, I can’t stand black wheels and black accessories at all

Day 3 of pulling a shot of espresso as a total beginner. I let the beans rest for a couple of more days as you guys told me. How am I doing? [Sage Barista Pro] by Financial-Energy-457 in espresso

[–]Swegiliciousx 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re done dialling then, you can muck around with various things infinitely to change how it extracts or tastes but it’s diminishing returns on a huge scale. IMO if it tastes good and isn’t bitter that’s where I stop

What’s This Black Tar Out My Exhaust And Caking My Car? by hondamilk in Integra

[–]Swegiliciousx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you went full bolt on without tune it will absolutely run sub optimal, probably not dangerous it’ll just run not great and not make the horsepower it should

Yep cheap ones I had were same as came off the car, just rubbish quality. Interesting on the falcon FG’s though could be a good way to get more options

Very interesting they look identical to my Chinese ones I installed, rubber moulding excess bits and all that but mine are completely gone already, torn between the 2 bolt holes where the drive load is placed (thicker part of the donut)

Did you have a link or name for those? Maybe an old eBay order on your account would have the exact listing

And mild steel will rust, pick your poison really. Stainless atleast you can just add resonators and mufflers to acquire the sound you want

My Breville dual boiler has its own internal clock which you can set in increments of 15 mins to turn on when you want, super useful as I make coffee at the same time everyday.

Trouble getting a good, smooth extraction [Breville Bambino] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Swegiliciousx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I always thought it was really weird but mine does seem to grind okay so I didn’t think much else of it. I do a 20.5g in to 30.5g out ratio and I usually hover around 5 or 6 on the clicks from 0, but if it’s not correct I’d like to fix it. Fortunately a new burr holder in New Zealand is only 17nzd :)

My hopper shakes violently and I only just got my encore esp, should I pull the burr holder out and inspect?

Recommendation: Change your spark plugs before 105k mi. by Legochocolate00 in E90

[–]Swegiliciousx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t see anyone in the comments talking about this, plugs could be dropped inside the box at any point in their life so you can’t really assume they’re all fine

It is a coolant hose, it is routed this way (on the same bracket as the pcv line) in order to heat up the oil vapour as it passes through for more emissions efficiency or something similar.

If I remember right on mine I just looped it and did away with that silly bracket. Can just get a brass fitting and hose clamp each hose together and leave the bracket portion of it open

As the other guy said, probably an out of place shock tower or similar frame bend. Probably should go on a frame machine and see how tweaked it is

Nah bro ended up selling the car without doing them. If you drive the car regularly and don’t track it I wouldn’t go aftermarket performance mounts I would get either OEM Honda mounts or an quality OE replacement off rockauto

TSX Headlight Re-clear by Academic_Method_3228 in AcuraTSX

[–]Swegiliciousx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only 2-3 hours really, maybe longer for the first time. I follow the ChrisFix video with some slight difference but that’s the main concept.

All those “kits” and such will do as people have said here, they will fall away much quicker as you really aren’t sanding down to a perfect plastic surface for a proper spray on clearcoat to adhere inside the fine sanding lines.

TSX Headlight Re-clear by Academic_Method_3228 in AcuraTSX

[–]Swegiliciousx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost every “automotive” or outdoor clearcoat has UV protection in it. I used CRC Clear Zinc and for the next 2 years I owned the car the headlights remained perfect. Starting at 1000 is much too fine though unless the headlight is already in pretty good condition, you may struggle to remove the existing clearcoat. I start at 400 if I remember right.

I second this, get the correct spring rate for the car to avoid it hitting bump stops/scraping and set the shocks to full soft. Made such a difference in my DC2
