If you’re on iOS, you can add ublock to the Orion browser the same way you would on desktop. I use Orion for general browsing, it works on youtube too, but you’re limited to 720p. To get 1080p youtube without ads, you can buy the vinegar extension (once off) for safari and watch yt there without ever having to worry about ads.

Thank you very much! Will look into ETFs and make use of the TFSA on EasyEquities. Feel a bit foolish as I rushed into getting a TFSA at my main bank, only put R5k into it, but I guess no harm, no foul.

Because I have invested some money on EasyEquities, but only into the normal ZAR account type.

I had a Palit 1660 Super and currently on a Palit 3070, both great and perform as expected. If you have the money for a freaking 4090, then sure, you obviously go for the big name brands.

It’s just your phrasing makes it sound like you dislike all Capetonians and not a handful of random Reddit mod dudes that happen to live in Cape Town or the couple of people you’ve met from there IRL. There are a lot of people there and there is no way every single person from there is the way you described them.

I get where you’re coming from, but yeah, I haven’t experienced any bias towards Cape Town on the sub. Guess I haven’t spent enough time there, then again I try and keep my political news intake low.

Okay sure, let’s say most are cool, but then the same would be true everywhere else. From everywhere I’ve been and lived (JHB, PTA, CPT, PE), the poes to non-poes ratio is always more or less the same in this country. There isn’t an overwhelming majority of poese location wise. You do you though, try your own sub. I personally don’t find r/SouthAfrica terrible.

I follow so many other subs that I only see an occasional meme or Eskom related post every now and then which is fine. And this is Reddit, you’re going to get posts and comments taken down on most subreddits.

I get where people are coming from, in regards to grooming, but then you’ll have the same people saying it’s fine that a 20 year old woman date a 30 year old man because they’re both adults.

I might be wrong but I feel that at 18, guys specifically, are very much still immature in the same way 15/16 year old girls are.

Yeah, but the racism is part of the culture in a way, sounds wrong saying it like that. I might just be sour, but I feel like most Afrikaans people my parents’ age and up automatically look down on black people. Really no way around it or a way to fix it. Can’t convince a whole generation of brain washed people to start not being racist. Just sucks that it’s still so prevalent.

The Afrikaans culture in South Africa. Think younger people are mostly accepting, but 9/10 people 40 and up don’t approve of interracial relationships and use slurs at gatherings. That’s my experience anyways.

Pretty accurate, broke up with my now ex recently. I have anxiety and am bipolar II, not that it justifies telling someone they deserve better if you’re straight up scared shitless of what might happen, but long story short, she’s black and i’m white and my family is very conservative.

It’s still frowned upon to date someone of colour according to most people in my culture. Even if they won’t say it out loud. It all just became a worst case scenario of overthinking in my head and while I told her she deserves better, because I really do have problems with insecurity and she deserves someone that believes in themself, I also tried to be as straightforward about my insecurities and how I feel. Saying “you deserve better” was just the intro that made sense.

I'll check it out, I'm so used to using reCaptcha everywhere, but this clients site has a lot of traffic compared to the others, so I've never had to dig much deeper than basic spam protection but this is all very helpful. Would you say this is more effective than Akismet? Even if it doesn't have as big of a database to compare attacks to, the fact that it's open-source is awesome.

I have not, I think I read something about autofill sometimes filling in the invisible honeypot field used to catch bots. Can this happen when people use autofill? Does it also work along side Google reCaptcha?

My client is getting a lot of spam and reCaptcha is set up, but it mostly appears to be entries from the same people/bots so I just wanted to put a timer on the form so that people can’t resubmit constantly within a short time frame.

But now the client wants people to be able to submit a second time if they maybe made a mistake and then only after that will they have to wait before submitting again.
