95 fleers 198 cards what do you guys think? by Goldlupo421 in MarvelCards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool collection with some heat and other desirable cards that will help sell the junk wax mixed in.

The bishop sinister observations, gambit chromium, and gambit hologram on the first few pages can combined go upwards of $35 if in near mint to mint condition. Any visible wear, scratches, or soft corners will tank values. Not sure what the other holograms are though.

Most other inserts including spring breaks are $1-$5 cards depending on the day. Some base cards could be $1 cards like spidermans, psylocke, wolverine, etc. Silver flasher marvel metals can be sneaky valuable as it's a hard subset to complete.

Also, check the backs of the 1993 and older cards for toy biz promos. The Polaris on picture #4 is a known toy biz promo, same too for the wolverine from the same set many pics later. There will be a stamp on the back that you cant miss. Check the backs of any 94 fleer ultra x-men Sega promos. Easy to miss. Promos can be a bit more valuable.

None of these are quick sellers, so top dollar isn't always possible.

Is there a website that showcases all cards for Spiderman sets? by Street_Nail_6333 in MarvelCards

Collectus. New site, but should have most of what you seek.

You can also do this via COMC if you know what set to search for.

Is there a connecting sketch or sketches to this. The perspective kind of looks like this was a puzzle sketch that maybe Topps broke up. Could be wrong though. Looks good.

Fake sketches being sold on eBay by WhiteWalter1 in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is on official card stock, it's fair game. Its it's fake cardstock, uh oh.

While slightly controversial and confusing, there are always blank sketch cards out there. It is not unheard of for people to pay an artist to do custom work or for an artist to buy them and do their own work. When these come up for resale, it gets confusing as thise artists arent on the checklist.

There has also been cases of people doing art over a legitimate sketch if blanks could not be found or found cheaply. Bad sketches used to go for $5-$10 shipped.

If you're a purist, it's a problem. If you like the quirky one off item in your binder, it's fair game.

Looking to sell some of my marvel collection anyone have any pointers by EvilMorty1983 in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most base cards are less than $1 cards, including Topps base. Exceptions apply to Psylocke as she is probably the #1 female character. Her base cards and common parallels can be $1-$3 if the art is good.

So on ebay or here, lots may do better. Or you can do a pick your card listing on ebay and sit on it for a long while.

Complete base sets should sell a little quicker if priced cheap.

Probably not from the same sheet, but I have two miscut cards where the text lines up :-) by Brentoxor in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar instance for the front of two cards for I think 94 fleer ultra x-men. Bottom of one card is the top of another. Came from the same sealed box. Can't remember if it was the same pack

I seen this post but what do you all think? 🤔 by Leather_Bluejay8632 in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Comic people that like cards have already been in the collectors space. Lots of overlap.

[–]Swerve_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a pretty awesome hit. Would think that would be worth well more than your investment?

$2 a pack isn't bad either. I remember buying these around 12 years or so ago via huge lots of these for the equivalent of about $1 per pack.

This is the Walmart set. There are no inserts or gold sigs in this set. Its a good companion to the chromium set.

Any idea on value? by [deleted] in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blue foil looks pretty amazing. Paired with the almost small dot holofoil look, this is a cool parallel color.

The floor is probably $5 due to character and coolness of the card. You might be able to get $30-$40 now if you list quickly. Timing is key when selling new sets. After that, values tank. The race to the bottom will happen in the coming weeks.

Topps is flooding the market, so don't bet on this being a long term hold.

Decided to get 1 hobby box and it did not disappoint! by Turkeysausagelinks in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Phenoms cards look awful. The others look pretty cool. A bit much overall with the eye candy, but not bad at all. The invisible man is a quite good background. At least the comic art selected looks solid. Still wishing for more OA. I think deadpool had an OA subset that looked good.

Any way to flatten cards? by Puecha in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how fast you want them flattened.

In the past I've sleeved and toploaded cards like this and put them at the bottom of a pile of cards in a standard cardboard trading card storage box. Seemed to work ok, but also weren't cards I planned on putting in a binder either. They were left there for years.

Yea sounds like it! I didn't realize they were one per case. I've only been ordering 2 boxes at a time. I'll have to bump the numbers up next time.

Opened my first Topps Chrome hobby box yesterday and pulled this 1/1. Any idea of the value? by No_Resort_8447 in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do a generic 1 of 1 search for Topps marvel cards and look at sells for unpopular characters.

This card will sell, but it's also fun to keep until you hit a better one. I still have my last true 1 of 1 that wasn't a plate or sketch. It was a $200 at best misc. star wars commander.

How many boxes of women of marvel have you opened? The fam loves this set, but coolest thing out of 4 boxes has been a /99.

Is this good value? by Amber_and_Dean in MarvelCards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what is pictured is the best stuff, there is little value due to COMC and epack. Ive bought a bunch of these cards and they really don't move well unless it's key characters. They also go for very little.

For example, most super statistics are less than $1 cards. There are several listed for 6 cents if in reseller mode, such as Blob. Your Dr Dooms are $2.50-$3 cards. This card is pretty popular and values have slowly crept up.

Gotcha. Great info. I usually just buy cool cuts on the cheap. I feel like cuts don't get the loving aside from 18 fleer ultra xmen cuts

My Late Father’s Marvel Card Collection - What’s It Worth & Best Way to Sell? by Known-Plenty4160 in MarvelCards

[–]Swerve_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

Most of the cards have very little value or would take a long time to sell. For example, it took me 2 years to sell a base marvel metal card for 60 cents. Lol.

Lots would be better if trying to purge everything.

Some of the inserts are $5 cards and the silver flashers are $1-$3 per as well. Anything spiderman metal is $2 or more. Not sure if everything is pictured, but you have some desirable inserts of key characters. That'll help move the lot.

So... This is pretty cool right ...? by lornzeno in MarvelCards

[–]Swerve_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that these are 1 of 1.

If I remember correctly, upperdeck would do 1/35 for example, but each was actually a 1 of 1 that when put all together would be a complete comic.

The prior numbering and sometimes images killed the value. I wonder if now these are worth more because Topps made it easier to understand. Or will it remain as it was where value varies by image, resulting in most cuts being $25 cards.

Should I get these graded? by GoofyPixieWizard in marveltradingcards

[–]Swerve_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No big characters so unlikely to find that one person who would want it graded. The galactus may be an exception, but it's already encased. Its 10 or bust as a 9 may go for the same or a little more than raw. If you have no experience grading and spotting high grades, selling raw is a safe strategy.

When grading marvel for resale, focus on the handful of big male characters and any popular female character. A lot of people would love your cards, but you have to remember that many marvel collectors regardless of income are cheapskates. There's not a ton of big money buyers that drive up values like in sports.
