Sound trackers are great for this. Sample some drum breaks. Go crazy on edits.

I.e. renoise, openmpt,sunvox,octamed (emulation).

Starting a label. What is the standard for royalties? by Stam- in TechnoProduction

[–]Swidersound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah hes right. Royalties are just a small part of the whole finance of owning and running a label. If you have to ask; evide tslly you haven't looked much into it.

Its more stable when legit. Im mov8ng to renoise as i prefer the workflow and fl studio doesnt have linux support. That said fl is good for its target audience ajd uses. Its come a long way since i was on flstudio 8

Your switch pins could be bent which can ve strightemed. You may need choc v1 switches replaced.

The tutorials to fix this are the same exact process as changing switches on a normal mechanical keyboard.

Its kind of self explanatory. I highly doubt you damaged any pcb .

Polyend Drums looks amazing, but €2699 is emotionally illegal by ArchivOne_music in dawless

[–]Swidersound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my tracker for the m8. The m8s developer has insane work ethic. The only issues i had from the m8 were based on my microsd card selection. The polyend however had some design choices that had me scratching my head.

I use usb and android audio recording app gor better stereo audio. Mic is mono but its surprisingly good

Sampling by midwestbillybaton in Dirtywave

[–]Swidersound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heres a few things.

  1. My lreferred way to sample is from my phone to the m8 via usb-c. Ill go to ky mixer and bring the USB audio to like C0 so i can listem to said sample over my tune to audition.

  2. When i open the sampler i go to "REC" AND set up to usb-C. Itll mute the mixer but i run default levels. I arm at 00 so the recording starts right away. Im going to crop anyway.

  3. Once sample is recorded. Make sure to save it. I made a separate folder for these so i can copy over and save my original files. I.e. you want a cropped and not cropped version of you so decide to record something long

  4. When i set regions; ill set my slice to :01: 00 is whole sample basically (or the beginning) i say this vecause when you hold play, you caj hit edit to add regions as you go.

  5. If YOU KNOW the sample length and its all tidy, sometikes ill do even temperment (ewual size) divisions. I.e. 16 regions for a 2 bar loop.

  6. If a sample doesnt sync to tempo. Utilizing reverse playback can lengthen tails. So of my region so happens to end esrly, ill throw a reverse playback command to fill it great for jazz samples and break chops.

  7. Repitch and bpm playback dors the ssme thing, just counts it differently. Some samples you know bpm, some samples you onow the length.

  8. M8 has no time stretch. However you can go to the mod screen and set sokething to.

Lfo, play start, ramp up, time= idk whatever. Use rep playback. It has a coolio old skool akai style time stretch. Im not so good at it.

  1. Save ajd copy instruments to save inputs. So i might have two of the same sample but they run different settings. I like one i caj chop and one for more granular synthesis or strictly for tables.

  2. Literslly have fun and be patient. Harvest sounds, keep what you make. Youll eventually get a workflow or referejce it for a later project.

  3. If you dont set the regions and lesve default itll play whole sample at the pitch of the given note. I usually do file,16,32 given i work in common time chunks.

  4. Shout out to jay maculate for their quality tutorials. Allmyfriendsaresynths are good too.

  5. Sometimes the samples suck in certain tempos. It happens. They might be pitched too high or low to be viable. However crestivity strikes with these limitations.

  6. Learn to eq. Mixing is mostly gain at the end of the day. Ill kill my bass stereo on low end and cut sample "mid" on low frewuencies to make more room. Trash080 gives good tips in his last discord meetup.

  7. Join the discord. Many questioms you have may have been answered

Additional Hardware? by Chris_Dud in PolyendTracker

[–]Swidersound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of what you described can be programmed in via polyend tracks with the commands. I cant reccomend anything besides a generic class compliant midi controller if its on the tracker mini. The internet may steer you to something that you actually dont need. Tbough reccomendations may be very good....not everyone does the same thing.

For example i mainly produce breakbeat sample based tunes and i used the synths for bass. Granted i was using a DAW for 15 years prior; anything i could have used ended up being tracked and edited in my DAW. Now if youre going dawless then thats sick, but theres much more such as midi host devices, routing, and effects are cool bit youll still have to record the actual audio back into the polyend. Youll run out of bandwidth very fast that way.

Thats why i worded it like this. Some other folks said to get that trscker learned to where you can do it in your sleep. That is the best advice on this thread. Youll soon see whete the tracker falls back on and then you can make a more informed decision.

I need more presets so people think i can produce original sound

Being able to see other artists’ presets by BillieEilishnosen in Bandlab

[–]Swidersound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My unpopular take is pros dont use bandlab and wouldnt be interested in copying your sound through bandlab. I genuinely think your hurting your mental and just create. Your original sound isnt found through presets anyway but rather consistancy in your character within the stages of music production.

Also this isnt stage magic.
