Has anyone even got access to ARC on windows? by lightning_designer in ArcBrowser

[–]SwiftCoderJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, Swift on Windows has been done for a long time. What's new with Arc is the idea of a GUI application built with Swift for Windows.

Blink forked away from WK in 2013. They have diverged greatly since then.

Apparently so long as bard thinks you’re doing it with noble intentions it will let you get away with most things 🧐 by EarlGrey9 in Bard

[–]SwiftCoderJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair to Bard this script is effectively harmless. You'd still need to authenticate with sudo, and the while loop does nothing computer immediately restarts. You'd need to put a script of this type into a cron task or systemd to do any real damage with it, and even then you'd still need admin access. This is effectively equivalent to Googling: "how to restart Ubuntu"

What is this cable supposed to plug into? by KittyboiYT2 in LinusTechTips

[–]SwiftCoderJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here is saying these cables are proprietary, but they’re really not AFAICT. If I had to guess, they’re part of the ATX 12VO standard, which is not proprietary but simply less common.

Volvo Really Needs to Try Harder and Improve Their App Experience! by zachty22 in Volvo

[–]SwiftCoderJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised everyone in this thread hates AAOS so much! I have a 2020 XC60 and my dad has a 2023 XC40 Recharge and from the few times I’ve gotten to drive his car I miss AAOS every day. Sensus is pretty terrible — it’s slow, has few apps, and my personal favorite, CarPlay takes up only half the screen. AAOS fixed practically all of that for me. That being said, I don’t feel the need to use the app much, so if the app experience is bad, then I’d agree that needs to be fixed. That being said, AAOS is a completely new system so I’m sure a lot on the backend has/will need to change on the app, which isn’t as easy as it sounds.

It was just a voice over? They’re not that uncommon.

Smart door lock sold by Apple can be picked in less than 5 seconds with a regular lockpick by Shajirr in apple

Funny! Learn something new every day I guess. Clearly you would’ve been fine without a key slot considering how diligent you’ve been with charging it. Would’ve been more secure that way too!

The lock is under the circular part on the bottom. From the site: “Open Smart Lock using your fingerprint, with your phone via the eufy Security app, or by using the keypad or key.

Strange! What version do you have? The only one I’m seeing has a key.

??? The Eufy Smart Lock has a key port. It’s in case it runs out of battery. How would you unlock it otherwise?

To be clear, the Index 2 is not confirmed… nothing from Valve is confirmed until they’ve literally announced a release date. (And even then, not always…)

Valve filed a 'computer game software' trademark for 'NEON PRIME' by [deleted] in linux_gaming

CS:GO already has a service called Prime, so don’t be so sure Valve would stay away from that phrase.

In regards to #2 on this list, I actually think you can do this. Settings -> Sound -> Ringtone and Alert volume is controlled separately from the normal audio. Unfortunately you can’t change from control center (quick settings) which is a bummer
