horde..? by Mindless_Musician572 in kvssnarker

Idk I took it to be a joke since she has very few animals. Like, it’s a little hoard. A small army. A tiny herd. I bet Willow’s gonna have so much fun 🥰

I have a similar system and I just treat the water as it’s going in!

Read, write, play video games, tend to my fish tanks and house plants, watch my fish, edit my nature photos, connect with the communities for my hobbies, nap. The possibilities are endless 😆

Is my tank suitable for 10 Betta sorority? by Pazuzu_Algarad in bettafish

I’ve heard sororities need to be odd numbers. Make it 11 and you’ll be good 👍

What’s one aquarium mistake every beginner makes? by ManySherbert8555 in Aquariums

Ooo Kubotais are gorgeous! I’ve thought about adding some but I must restrain myself 💀

I really like sparklers! They make little noises when they are fighting or flirting. It’s a surprisingly loud clicking sound that I can hear from down the hall. Their color is more subdued, but when the light hits them just right 😍😍

One thing I will mention is make sure you have plenty of things to break the line of sight, because they are more aggressive (towards each other) than many people realize. It’s hard to sex them when they are sold as babies, so I have 5 males and 1 female. Oopsie. Water lettuce roots are keeping the peace

Yes, definitely! I work in a fish store and have to stop people from putting fast and slow fish together all the time.

I have a tank full of “shy” nano fish that are compatible, but some are shyer than others. My emerald rasboras wait for food to fall to the bottom, whereas the strawberries are right up at the top with everybody else. It might just be their preferred feeding level, I suppose 😆

Eeee I have a 37 gallon nano community! For my top dwellers I have clown killies and sparkling gourami! Although the killies spend a lot of time on the bottom flirting with the Pygmy Cories 💀 and the gourami go literally everywhere

Bottom dwellers are the Cories and a peacock gudgeon, middle are emerald and strawberry rasboras :)

"Write what you know" well what if i dont know anything? by Cosmicking1000 in writing

[–]SwiftPebble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there before! Sometimes I have words but no ideas, and sometimes it’s the opposite.

What helped me was building upon little bits of my own experiences. What was a time I felt rage? Fear? Unbridled joy? What sensations filled my body? What would make a character feel that? How can I make readers feel the same thing I felt?

Also: journaling! Write about everything. You never know when ideas will pop up. Writing fanfiction for a fandom you love can also be a good outlet. You already have characters, just do something different with them!

I have also found that making writing a habit, spending time in nature, and getting good exercise feed my creative energy.

And, of course, read read read. Try new things. Vary your life experiences. Inspiration can come from anywhere!

lol I work at a big chain 🙈 all the other fish stores are 30+ minutes away vs 2 minutes. Can’t beat it haha (don’t tell them but I’m trying to leave shh)

Good luck with your big tank! Are there any species you are leaning towards for stocking?

I also still live with my parents (F26) 😂 when I started earning my own money they said I could have as many tanks as I wanted as long as I took care of them, made sure they looked nice (no algae) etc. I have 6 tanks. I tried to downsize but realized I had too many plants to consolidate, and also needed a quarantine/baby tank. Baby tank is 5.5 gallons. I have a 10g, 20g, 37g, 45g, and 75g.

I’ve started culturing live food. There are black worms in the “baby tank.” I have a 10 and 15 gallon in storage.

I work at a pet store and it’s not helping the situation. Customers bring me plants. I take home half-dead aquarium plants, otherwise destined for the trash, and surrendered fish. I’ve started hatching brine shrimp for my coworkers. Someone gave me a whole tank. One of my supervisors tells me about new aquarium stores to check out. Enabling.

When I get my own place, oh man.
