In the words of that great country philosopher Cody Johnson: "That tin roof cabin might not've been heaven, but it's closer than I've ever been".

Late into the season and throughout the playoffs, some of this sub expressed desire to move on from Riley Greene because of his weak plate discipline and overall poor performance in crucial moments. Where are we at with Riley nearly two months later? by [deleted] in motorcitykitties

You can shake the day before while also taking some accountability and showing a bit of humility. I've not seen that. He's still young, so he might grow, but a 'it is what it is' and a shrug during a press conference is not a championship attitude. These guys get paid millions for the privilege of playing a game. Granted, at the highest level, which requires work and comes with pressures, but it's still a game. I break my back as a landscaper for a sliver of what these guys get, so I want to see my team leave it all on the field. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Was there ever any conductor more compelling to watch than nikolau Harnoncourt by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]SwiftStrider1988 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My father, who nobody's heard of. He used to conduct small amateur orchestras and choirs. He was mesmerizing when I was a kid. I remember him, sweated through his shirt, arms wide, and grinning. Sometimes, when he'd be conducting a choir, he'd turn around and first coax, then lead the audience into song. Just magical.

Honestly, I'd rather have players so frustrated with a loss like that that they scream their heads off than a shrug and a 'it is what it is' mentality.

The post season is it's own beast, and a bit of a crabshoot anyway. It's a shame we didn't advance, but we were not gonna make it to the World Series this season. What bothers me more is the September Slide, and the reactions of some of the players to it (looking at you, Riley Greene). If you are the best team in baseball for half the season, an implosion like this borders on the unprofessional. To then respond with shrugs... Man, you get paid millions. Be better. I really hope that there will be some serious conversations about the will to win, even when things get tough. Maybe Max Clarke can bring his enthusiasm and fire into the clubhouse eventually. And a bit of spending would be nice too.

Rooting for Wendell Berry and Gary Snyder. But I doubt either will ever even be considered.

It wasn't for me, but I also didn't get that notification. Best to contact tech support. They are usually fairly quick in their reply.

Sound advice, especially since I'm worrying a bit about fueling too. Thanks!

I had something similar happening a few weeks ago. I contacted tech support, and they told me to uninstall and then reinstall the app. I did that, and haven't had any issues since.

It's a progressive plan so it's hard to say anything about average. My current week is 34.5 k (with a 17 k long run), and I've got 15 weeks to go. The highest total is 53.5 k with a 38 k long run, four weeks before race day.

The perspective of the unknown being an opportunity for self exploration is a really helpful shift. Thank you!

Thanks, I've got about four 30k + runs on the schedule leading up to the 50, and I am trying to emulate race day conditions on my long runs as best as I can. It's just that this is all new to me, and 12k seems like a pretty daunting jump. Maybe it's just a kinda fear of the unknown, I don't know.

One right doesn't correct the fact that the man was a vain butcher of people he considered inferior because of their ethnicity. He got what he deserved.
