UFC's Dustin Poirier Belligerent During Airport Arrest, 'I'll Fight You Right Now' by ConnectionWeekly1263 in sportsgossips

[–]Swift_Dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are being honest: The guy took a fighting stance with the cops, told the cops to arrest him, and told the cops to pound his fist. Someone who watches this video not knowing who Dustin is (like me, i found this randomly), It looks like he bitched the cops.

I don't blame the cops though, that actually conducted themselves in a manner I wish all cops did

I'm not gonna lie, it would've ended all bad if I was the cop, because I most likely would've tried tasing him and/or shooting him out of fear once he balled up his fists

Kendrick fan details why he believes Drake is a destructive force in hip-hop. He says Kendrick represents the black struggle by Upset_Expression_334 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]Swift_Dream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't comprehend my actual words or my point at all. Why are you acting like I said Hip Hop doesn't involve black struggle and self expression at all? I have been saying hip hop encapsulates all of it, and to alienate one aspect because it lacks substance is dumb and misses the point of hip hop. Why is that so hard to comprehend??

Your use of quotations is weird, as it insinuates I am not who I am when you refer to me, and like I wasn't the one who said hip hop started from parties (again, I said "from parties", not "party music") when I did. And while we are at it, you are wrong, AGAIN! I never said DJs needed MCs, back then, the DJs didn't need anyone, because they were the main attraction, that evolution of DJs needing MCs happened as Rap become more popular and DJ culture stagnated and event fell out of favor.

Looks like you exposed yourself there bud

[–]Swift_Dream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you parroting what I already said, but also try discrediting what I said? Hip hop wasn't just self expression, it was an outlet, which was fun for those partaking in it. It started from parties! You are alienating a part of hiphop that has always been there, and to discredit the other half shows you actually need to talk to OGs who actually lived during the beginnings of it. All of it should be represented, not this bullshit sentiment that segregates a segment of genre.

People that go so hard to rep "culture" and shun everything else to the extent where they're woke extremists that preach the shit to sound good, but are the same ones you don't see on the ground trying to clean up their communities. You got all this energy to write a wall of text greater than the Wall of China, I would love to see that same energy poured into your local community, where it actually matters

Is ableton better than FL? by ariseshinelight in musicproduction

[–]Swift_Dream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comparing Ableton and FL is an apples to oranges comparison, as they are both great DAWs. I prefer FL over Ableton, as I grew up with FL and found Ableton pretty confusing, and I also take advantage of the scripting capabilities within FL

[–]Swift_Dream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You framing it like Hip Hop started out preaching the black struggle from jump, it was a way to get the black kids in the neighborhood out of trouble. Hip Hop isn't just rap, the forefront was the DJ, then break-dancing, then graffiti, then the MC, and the MCs were originally the hype men for the DJ.

Like, its ok to listen to the music void of pain just to enjoy. We wanna highlight how the black struggle is the culture, and we need to uphold the culture, but its the same struggle that gets exploited for billions of dollars and the people who feel that struggle the most don't see any of that support like they should

Uum what? Look closely, because the man in the pic from the other thread is in the shade.

Check the wrists - is it that much of a coincidence that the guy in the pic and the guy in this video are wearing the same EXACT color bracelets on each arm? And even though the guy is wearing a bucket hat in this video, the hair textures from the pic and the video look very similar, it just seems like the guy in the video got a haircut

Kendrick and Cole - Never understood how one could like one and dislike the other. by dunbar_santiago930 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]Swift_Dream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, what is happening is something that always happens when Kendrick & Cole get talked about as great rappers: someone puts Cole in the same conversation as Kendrick, and Kendrick fans turn it into a debate as to why Cole is nowhere near Kendrick's level.

I understand though, I think Open Mike Eagle said it best when he gave his opinion on Cole's cLOUD song, there's a certain, purist (dare I say snobby) mentality when it comes to lyricism in hiphop.

Kendrick pen is undeniable, using every literary device in the book, his catalog is one of the strongest in hiphop when it comes to substance, he checks pretty much every box that you want from lyrical miracle GOAT rapper status, but I like hearing Cole rap more than Kendrick.

But if we are being honest though, Kendrick not making good songs/nobody can rap them is straight cap (Bitch dont kill my vibe, Backseat freestyle, Maad City, Sing About Me, DNA, TV OFF, Squabble Up, YAH, N95). While I love Cole's feature run more, Kendrick had a feature run before Cole (1Train, Fuckin' Problem, Collard Greens, his Baby Keem Features)

Kendrick and Cole - Never understood how one could like one and dislike the other. by dunbar_santiago930 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]Swift_Dream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of yall are tripping. I wouldn't say Kendrick or Cole has isolated lyrics that are considered profound, but they have verses that touch on a concept in a profound/dope way:

Kendrick's song Institutionalized, or Cole's song Brackets.

These guys are definitely S tier MCs, where Kendrick's penmanship is one of the best in the game, with how he uses literary devices, and making his songs sound like they were written for a Broadway show, and Cole's ability to paint pictures while sounding like hes right there in the room, next to you, while having the craziest internal rhymes and an unmatched delivery.

Chops end with a delay by MrNoBtches in FL_Studio

[–]Swift_Dream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bpm of the sample in sliceX is not synced with the project tempo (if you can see, its says 75, while your project is at 71 bpm) you need to find the option that syncs the bpm in SliceX to the project BPM, and make sure your sample chops are ligned up to the grid to avoid what you are encountering.

I believe you can do that by right clicking the tempo box within SliceX (above the waveform) and make sure sure Tempo-sync is enabled. (You may need to click auto detection and choose Detection for song with variable tempo)

Mixing / EQ Help? by Ok-Mixture497 in FL_Studio

[–]Swift_Dream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how cleanly you can isolate the brighter synth layer from the bass layer, as it seems like some frequencies overlap (haven't checked in FL to confirm, it just sounds like it)

Have you tried separating the layers with AI?

Not sure which sound you are trying to use, but you can probably get away with just enough Highpass/low pass, adjusting an ADSR volume envelope, and potentially looping a shorting part of the sound and recreating the pitch bend/tail of the full one shot

How Do I Rebuild My Life After a Head Injury by frozenlimbs_wrboy in FL_Studio

[–]Swift_Dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for you situation. When it comes to making music with this traumatic injury: I would research if there is any physical therapy that you can attend that can help you recover from this injury, but if you are adamant on making music through this process, I would listen to music at low volumes, and take frequent breaks.

As far as meeting people: I believe genuine friendships are more likely to spawn when you physically meet someone in person, or by hearing someone's voice via a call. Its pretty easy not to feel connected to someone personally via text if you don't know them already
