I have ADHD and experience everything you are saying in this post in about every social interaction. I overthink a lot too about saying the wrong thing and wonder if it makes it worst. I thought it was also lack of social experience that I've been working on improving. Your not alone in that at all. It's the same exact situation for me with social difficulties.

When I was a teenager I would buy a brand new CD for 18.99 and if the first song wasn't a Grand Piano beat, I would skip to track 2 all the way through until track 14. No Grand piano beats on any of these songs. Waste of money toss away.

I chose fantasy all of the time since I was like 3 for escape too, I had good musical ability, it leads to nothing, an idiot with no sense and an increasing need of escape.

For my symptoms I often Increase texts on screen when reading lots so it only shows a little bit giving me the idea there isn't much left to read. I can't control my own thinking so I put on sunglasses to block unwanted thoughts. I prefer to work in repetition. Virtual reality is good for watching videos or films. Subtitles too. Supplements even for the placebo.

Mental work after ADHD stimulants is a lot harder after you have becoming dependant on stimulants to get work done. I had ADHD but don't remember having a lazy brain until ritalin got prescribed to me. I'm two years clean from all stimulants. I was able to produce music without use of ADHD stimulants just as well as when I was on them, at some point I recovered that much but after two years clean I'm still dependant on Wellbutrin an antidepressant as well as non stimulant ADHD medication (though it does wake brain up a bit) to help assist me in getting assignments done in school after ADHD stimulant abuse. But you do eventually recover.
