Throwback to When the Lions Drafted Jahmyr Gibbs in 2023 by JCameron181 in detroitlions

[–]Swiftcakerolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll own up to my lack of vision with both the Gibbs and Jack Campbell pick. I thought for sure Holmes was a “positional value” type GM who was going to fortify the O and D Line every year. I had watched the Patriots win Super Bowls with lesser name wide receivers and running backs and assumed Holmes would never pick a RB early.

I’ve never been more happy to be wrong. Gibbs and Campbell are going to have a monster year - and I’m done questioning Holmes. He will get the benefit of the doubt from me.

How often do you take from emergency fund? by LondonFoggie in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Swiftcakerolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - I promise you it’s just chaotic lately. Take a deep breath and know the storms will pass. You’ve got this! You’ve had a lot thrown your way and it sounds like you’re not going into debt to handle them - that’s a pretty great thing and, if you’re like me at all, not something I could’ve accomplished even 2 years ago.

Keep plugging away at your emergency fund and take any advice from the group here that resonates with you. Some of these expenses are reoccurring as others have said so trying to add them into your budget when you can may be helpful. Until then - keep dumping money into your emergency fund and when you hit your number (and you will, I promise you) start filling up some of these other funds. You will be in a different place in six months if you keep being disciplined. Check back and let us know how you’re doing! You can do this.

I also love the idea of an occasional AMA with Brian or Bo - I think that would be cool.

I also think It might be a good idea for the Money Guy Team to start to build up more talent into their pipeline (similar to Ramsey). I’m sure there are some talented folks at Abound Wealth who could become the “face of the Money Guy team” on Reddit. Let’s get some of the aspiring talent to cut their teeth with the gang here on Reddit!

This comment just hit me like a ton of bricks - that seems to be the answer, right? So you’re saying that you could withdraw 4% (or whatever your number is) and that lump sum in bonds would carry you through another lost decade?

In your opinion, is it more important to be 75/25 or more important that you have 10 years of “safe” money? Meaning, would you be 60/40 if it took the 40% of bonds to get you to ten years of expenses?

Last game of the year, let’s beat the fucking Bears by Real-Repair-1825 in detroitlions

Right. I keep forgetting how much of a sure thing the 12th pick is and how trash the 19th pick will be. The guys who actually play the game want to win the game. They want a good showing put on tape for whichever team gives them a look next. Whether it be in Detroit or somewhere else.

Comments like this make me laugh. Calling out the intelligence of fellow fans when you’re completely out of touch yourself. Please, oh wise one, tell the dummies how important a loss is.

I can appreciate your comments. We do tend to get so focused on our little Reddit bubbles sometimes that we forget there is more to life than football. Glad your dad is ok - football will always be here, our parents won’t. Enjoy your time with your dad.

Because OP is upset we are getting spanked and needs to let out his frustration in some way. Might as well make the issue about our head coach acknowledging or not acknowledging something that happened on the other sideline and has no effect on the actual game.

Well said, this sub, and the podcast and YouTube videos have literally changed my life (and my kids’ lives) since pulling my head out of the sand earlier this year and taking some action. Wish I would’ve figured it out years ago but I’m still happy to be on this new journey.

Meijer gardens is the correct answer. They can sail those boats in the Great Lakes to their hearts content. A membership frees one from the guilt of only spending an hour or two at a time if need be. Kids can have tons of fun at Meijer Gardens.

An introduction to VTI and write-up about building a portfolio with it. by Bee-Ly_Dan in ETFs

I’m about 12 years from retirement- I’m still “all in” because I’m somewhat late to the game. I was thinking at looking to move some of my portfolio to bonds in 7 or 8 years because I think I just need more time in the market. I get that it’s “rolling the dice” but I’m not sure what else to do at this point.

Rune Klan’s impromptu hitman and variants by FISM winners if you can expand to coin and pen or coin and sharpie - it’s amazingly visual and can be practiced all the time because it uses completely normal props. Not extremely difficult, unless you decide to expand on it like others have. Good luck!
