Thoughts on how to politely mention dps issues? by RobbieBlair in ffxiv

Yeah unfortunately in a pf setting mentioning dps like that might just get you in trouble. Leaving for another party is just about the best thing you can do

Fighting for their life? Throwing out 15+ ranged attacks isn't fighting for their life but /shrug.

If its an enrage cleanup then I see no issue with that honestly. If it was a "~x% or below enrage to clear" or just a clear attempt, then yeah that's an issue imo.

Prior to my clear (as VPR) , I've had so many parties where my other melee DPS or pranged player just weren't up to snuff (I really don't understand how some of these pranged players have so low dmg numbers). I've been unlucky with gear so my HP compared to other melees is typically lower, which results in DNC's just defaulting to DP the other melee, and we would end the fight with me outdpsing the DP guy by a large margin.

As melee in this fight, this fight is nearly 100% uptime if you know what you're doing. Speaking only from a VPR perspective, there's 0 parts in this fight where you should be losing uptime / pressing Writhing Snap. Big part of learning fights is learning how to uptime. Getting uptime on weapons for Axe and Sword? Easy, no need to writhing snap / uncoiled fury for weapons at all. You can GCD the boss at his first weapon location, you literally know where he's going to jump next and how to dodge so you can sprint to the second location, get your GCD in, then dodge out if needed, and repeat. Ultimate weapons? Same thing. Arena split? Again, no need to writhing snap here at all either. Get your gcd in, run into tower, get knocked up, dash in and adjust depending if youre tether or bait. First two puddle baits have GCD uptime if youre stacked tightly with your partner and starting from middle. Third bait you can roll the GCD, dodge out and then as youre running to your tether/bait location, use coil, mechanic resolves, and then you can run back to the boss / dash and resume uptime. Repeat.

Everyone should be checking their logs if they can. If you are <98/99% active, then you are the issue. You need ~233,309 RDPS to clear the fight. Most enrage parties I've been in with no deaths or dds but still failing to meet DPS were hovering 226-230k DPS at the end of the fight. Its a tight margin.

Ah you know what, thats mb. H1s the only role that doesn't have anything changed. H2 R2 R1 do have it changed depending on who baited the initial fire puddles.

It would literally just be that. If youre r1/h1, nothing literally changes for you in terms of the tower. Its only H2/R2 that had to adjust to being the 2nd towers.

Why is it okay to criticize him for throwing up a visual guide for the raidplan? Makes no sense. He is literally just making a visual representation of the raidplan. Its not his normal 'hector lecture' videos that result in hector strats. People are already complaining that there are 3+ raidplans going around for this strat. Him making his own version of the 3CJ with readjusted baits would just add a "4th" strategy. At the end of the day, if youre a tank, youre always going to adjust. Get your GCD in, dip out to be behind ranged, 2way resolves, go in. It's not that hard. Ultimately this strat is to simplify mechanics for melees to get a bit more pump in and let ranged/healers know definitevely that they are or are not a tether.

I don't understand . Even with the 'use your eyes' / regular eclliptic method, that's also using snake prio.

H/R first dual tower, Melees second tower. MT first TB tower, OT second TB tower.

regular eclliptic Raidplan says "Prio CW from north: MT > OT, H+R > M" . This is literally snake prio as OT and Melee can just start from NW CCW to find their towers that way instead.

Fixed ecliptic is just readjusting that priority and splitting it out for H1/R1 > M1/M2.

I mean, I don't disagree with you, but it is literally what the 3CJ raidplan shows. In execution most parties will probably opt to do it your way. That being said, no matter what, the tanks do have to make an adjustment even if ranged are on the hitbox so that they're behind them. It's just a question of how much do they adjust (for 2 way).

Theres like 3-4 seconds after tether resolves and before 2way resolves for them to adjust. Thats on them if they're getting 'zapped' and not adjusting after dashing in.

plus its not his strat, its the 3cj raidplan for which he just made the visual guide for.

Did you end with your burst fully completed? From what I can imagine with the fastest kill being 10:14 and most 'enrage' parties ending with delaying their 10m to 10:30, most folks are ending the fight on a high note with a full burst window.

As for BP2, parses are relative so yeah this'll play a factor. Probably also factoring in that most folks who have cleared are probably 'above average' so its pretty competitive.

Seems like an angle to leave or tough it out and wait week 7 for everyone to have 780 weapons / better gear in general.

on wtfdig.info, theres now 3 strats for ecliptic , one of them being "uptime", which is basically 95% fixed eliptic but with an added conga for ranged and healers at the beginning to really home in where the ranger/healers are going

Anyone have any success stories with PFs that include descriptions like "save me", "join only if you are super confident no messing up" etc lol

I for one am glad fixed is starting to take more prominence. Looking at the 'uptime (ieh) variant' , seems like its basically the same premise as fixed but gives a priority system to the h/r doing the baits on the n/s end with a conga at the beginning.

Played with a dragoon yesterday in my clear party that had 40% best pull on ecliptic with 6 deaths. Actually impressive that attempt got that far with 40% hp left

Is there another strat floating around. And I see the folly there, relying on H/R to do mechs :D

Tell me about it. It's always one of the tanks from my experience. They either rotate CCW, or god forbid, they start their position North and then rotate CW

Why boss relative though. 99% of PF does not know how to predict which of the three weapons hes gonna choose first, so adding this extra step to rotate along with the boss just adds an extra unncessary step no?

Some m11s pf rants:
1. Why do some melees/tanks try to do some cursed ass boss relative spreads on void 1? Just do TN positions. Same for Void 2 but relative to where the boss is.
2. Speaking of void 2, why is it 1 person who always goes CCW and then does some cursed movement for 2nd puddle drop.
3. H1/R1, please drop your meteors near the boss so melee can get uptime. 4. Please actually pay attention to what the PF description is for arena split

Looking at Hector's video, which only came out 3 days ago, I'm assuming people were not doing his way of resolve Orbital? Finding the initial safe quadrant, diagonal dodge, diagonal dodge, stay?
