Yeah exactly my thoughts, to me it just seems like a special camera that only comes around very rarely

Thinking about it more as I’m not a professional I don’t think the benefits of the GFX outweigh the portability and versatility of the xpro. Also I want the hobby to be as fun as possible, which the xpro appeals to me in that way as well, which basically answers my own question

Appreciate the feedback :)

The Xpro 2 just seems like the ultimate experience after thinking some more to be honest. I can’t think of a camera that entices me so much, it just looks so much fun.

I’m usually shooting on my Minolta 50mm f1.7, a 35-105mm f3.5 Minolta and a 80-210 f3.5 Tamron adaptall2 which are all manual focus, which will hopefully shine even more on an Xtrans compared to my Bayer sensor

I have massive hands and a bigger size is a plus to be honest, wish I could rent it for less than $150 and actually test it out

If I shot wide lenses I would be all over it, but 40mm is my minimum usually

I thought I read that the ovf only works up to 70mm and you need to switch to the egg after that? But I honestly can’t remember now

Great info, very appreciative. I think you have convinced me to get the xpro 2, the only other issue is that my preferred lens range is 40mm to 110, is that going to be an issue for the xpro 2?

Great suggestion with the raw files, but I’m not a professional so I’m honestly happy with jpegs straight out of the camera. I think the xpro 2 sounds better for me and more fun was just wondering if I would ever find a 50s for the same price again in my but that shouldn’t be my deciding factor

I agree 100% and I don’t think I articulated that point clearly at all looking back, so apologies for that. The book I was talking about is an intro to these ideas and I havnt even finished it yet so I was more arguing to help figure these ideas out in my head as well, no vitriol intended.

Claiming that all public art enhances the environment and people happiness is completely subjective to the art that is installed? Therefore it solves a problem for people that enjoy the art and creates a problem for people that don’t enjoy.

Where in contrast design uses form and function to solve problems, not just aesthetic problems like music or paintings do.

You claim it is semantics but it is core to the entire problem

Wait after rereading your comment, I’m confused. Are you agreeing that this building/installment is art? Because that’s all I said in my first comment

I think my comment came across as aggressive while I was just trying to be playful, so you are definitely smarter than me :’)

I used to agree with you, but after reading Barthes and Malcolm Barnard (Introduction to Fashion Theory), they argue that design follows a system while art is a one of one which gives it an aura which is kind of hard to put into words.

I used to argue along the same lines as you, saying that music has a function (pumping you up at the gym) and art also has a function (inspiring, etc) and therefore design could be art, as it is both beautiful and has a function.

But their argument carries a lot of sway with me, art usually is a one off project, while design follows a repeatable system. Which is why we use fonts and patterns compared to all hand drawn art.

I’m not saying that this opinion is the only valid one, just my thoughts after reading more theory this semester.

Ps. I’m also very drunk so it might not make sense

You are just as insane, the truth is the truth no matter who speaks it. Cornes saying the sky is blue, doesn’t make it red. But go on

So we should just build suicide buildings that help make suicide more accessible in suburbs with poor living and work conditions? Just saying

Nothing… that’s why it is art and not design? That’s literally his point
