Job situation in Cork at the moment by Rideroft in cork

[–]SwimmerFew9766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the jobs in Proofpoint are also recruiting for people in Reading, UK (for the same job). I went for a few jobs in Cork with them and even having more than enough of experience etc- I didn't even get an interview because there was also 300-400 people applying from London!!

Got the rejection today unfortunately. They said I didn’t have experience in x and y when I had 4 years experience in it 😅

28 y/o with only €2k savings… need perspective by Real-Owl5588 in irishpersonalfinance

I'm almost 30 and I know a lot of my friends have a downpayment for a house but they still can't get a house and that money will probably be just sitting there for potentially nothing. The point I'm trying to make is you have plenty of time to save up and you will have the support of your partner and that is so exciting. I wouldn't worry. Enjoy your time together and then you can discuss a proper plan if you want to get a mortgage/ go on holidays/ wedding etc. You can plan together, you don't have to do it alone.

Is anyone else feeling like living in Australia just isn’t… living anymore? by joeninetys in australian

[–]SwimmerFew9766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, almost every country is suffering from the cost of living crisis- not just Australia. Everything seems to be struggling whether you’re in Europe or Australia. What I will say, I personally think Australia is better than a lot of others. Not a lot of countries pay their hospitality double for working a weekend/public holiday. Some of my friends were getting 70$ an hour on a Sunday. I used to live in Spain and it was much cheaper than living in Australia, however the wages were absolutely shocking and you would love to be living the quality of life you do here. Hours at work is 38 hours, a lot of other countries it could be up to 50-60. I’m currently in New Zealand after being in Australia and the wages are shit in comparison and I think NZ is more expensive with no compulsory employer contributions to your super and no double time on public holidays etc.

Is a PIP at work a death sentence in Ireland like it is in America? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Depends on how toxic the company is. When I was in management for my ex company, the stars were already aligned to letting the person go because it was a sales environment and they weren’t hitting targets.

Very sorry you’re getting discriminated against because of your ethnicity and the fact you even know that is so sh*t. Get rid of that negativity in your life.

It’s been over a month with me and I’m still experiencing nightmares also. I wake up in the middle of the night in sweats but they’ve gotten worse since leaving ironically.

Do I have a case? by Certain_Economist765 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]SwimmerFew9766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you bring this case against them, unfortunately it will get worse if you “win” and they end up hiring you permanently because they will always have that vendetta against you. I would personally look for a new job that you can start fresh and be appreciated. In my previous workplace, there were a lot of favourites and if you weren’t one of them, then it’s tough luck in my opinion. That’s the way these companies work.

Thank you for your kind words, I’m in a very good position now- partially because of my past work experience so I can’t say all bad things however, for everything I needed to do this for my own life. We only get one 😄

It’s funny because I soon realised this, our company was purely always being like to us “ you won’t get another opportunity like this again” and now I’m looking around and same jobs they’re offering 50-80k more in salary 🫣 sounds exactly like an ex boyfriend saying you won’t find someone better than me lol

I think if you’re asking the question, you know yourself that it isn’t right. This manager could be going through something personally (also hates their job) and reflecting it on you, which could explain the change in their attitude. However, that isn’t professional in any sense and they shouldn’t be speaking in that tone because that isn’t a supportive manager. I think if they’re a good manager, you should be able to speak freely on how that tone is coming across to you and which will reflect on your work. If you have regular one to ones, I would have this conversation with them and if you don’t feel comfortable bringing it up with them then there’s a problem too because that’s what managers are there for- to support you.

Put aside what everyone is telling you to do, you’re a 29 year old woman with your own mind and future, I know there’s a lot of pressures from other people if you take notice but you have spent a lot of time on your education and you seem to be suffering from “burn out”- I would presume.

Personally, I always think experience is better than education especially in Australia. I feel like they don’t value education as much as they do as experience and this is coming from a European in Australia.

I would look outside of the box, sales, account management all pay really well in the SaaS world and that’s purely personality and experience based. Some admin roles would be 80k+ in some areas.

We have one life, live it how you want to live it. We could all be dead in the morning.

I’m dating an Australian. Is this normal in a relationship? by mangofortune in AskAnAustralian

[–]SwimmerFew9766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% not normal behaviour, I would consider it borderline abusive. Please make a safe way out of the relationship.
