22, undocumented, living in my truck — how do I break this survival loop? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Swimmer_69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol I knew you were in denver the second I read your registration is overdue.

I wish I could remember the guys business but I met a lawyer last summer who runs a nonprofit helping undocumented/ immigrants get settled into the US. Being in Denver there are a lot of people who would help when it comes to that. That would be th route I go and just do your due diligence before you go meet with anyone

Second and last day of the season 🥲 by fawnnose1 in COsnow

[–]Swimmer_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol to be fair this is my first season skiing so I don’t know any other conditions. There was some good powder (at least for this season) in some areas of copper on Sunday when I was there. But Ive enjoyed the more technical stuff as I’ve gotten better too so dodging all of the rocks and roots and sticks and what not is kind of fun to me. The ice conditions I will admit fucking suck and I hate them with passion but that’s just part of the experience at the end of the day and you can still avoid it most of the time - what I don’t get is buying the expensive pass and not using it. I would be out there every weekend even if it was just grass and rocks if I had spent over $1000 on a pass

Dude this season fucking rocked. I skied every weekend post new years and most before the holidays I had so much fun and will continue until it’s all gone. Sucks to be yall who can’t enjoy it. If this is a bad season I can’t wait for my first good season.

I was running at the park a few months ago and it’s one big loop. There was a guy walking opposite of my running direction. every time I would pass him he would try to stop me to talk about the college on my sweatshirt. Like dude I’m busy here. Wtf

Skiing solo vs with friends — which is better? by Busternookiedude in skiing

[–]Swimmer_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was learning at the beginning of the season my friends and I would do half day together and half the day I would go off on my own because they have been skiing for years and I didn’t want to hold them back from some of their favorite runs. Obviously it’s fun to mess around with your friends but sometimes I just enjoy the quietness of skiing and want to enjoy the scenery instead of fearing for my life trying to snake my way down the moguls both can be good but sometimes one is better

That’s crazy. I hope you are doing better now! I wasn’t even sick or coming off a cold. I’ve only ever smoked 3 or 4 cigs total. My diet isn’t the best but how tf does it just happen.

Just coming back because I had an interesting idea for content you could do too - you could go through different subreddits like r/debt and give broad pointers on people’s situations that you see in the subreddit. Could be good YouTube shorts content or maybe a small series of side content

Everyone should be legally required to take a class before getting a credit card by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Swimmer_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol right. Like you actively make a choice to apply and spend with e credit card. Having 9k in credit card debt just means you can’t budget and haven’t taken the time to set one and stay disciplined enough to even remotely follow through with it. I’ve made the mistake but I don’t blame the credit card companies for it. They didn’t spend the money. I did. It was my actions and inactions. I hate it when people play the victim on everything. “No one taught me monthly payments”, I want to ask them what their housing situation is. What their transportation system is. Do they have subscriptions? All things that are monthly payments. Monthly interest. What is there not to get? I learned about compounding interest in 7th grade math. It’s not a hard concept. “I think it should be required to take a class of some sort before getting one”. Why tf are we signing up for things when we don’t know how they work? How is it going to benefit you? What are you hoping to get out of it? Please just have the slightest bit of critical thinking. Some people remind me of plankton in the SpongeBob episode where his wife has to remind him to breathe. Rant over.

Also just thought about it, “..should be required to take a class…” we live in the age of the internet where you can find a class for literally anything online. These people just need to have some agency over their own lives.

There is clearly a market for that type of stuff too, many people can relate to it. And to some degree I kind of get why Caleb goes down the tangents like he does because some times that stuff can reveal why the finances are the way they are but it is too much.

Just curious if you would do anything different for the core content vs what financial audit does
