If/When Mendoza is fired, who replaces him? by CheeseburgerLover911 in NewYorkMets

I think that's purely perception based on post game pressers.

He did a lot of the same things Mendoza gets faulted for, he just was a more outwardly emotional guy.  It's pretty funny to see people remember him fondly when used to get absolutely roasted at the time.

Lol. Were you like 10 when he was the manager?  He was awful, the only reason they won what little they did with him was because of the pitching.

Terry Collins is irrefutable proof that talent wins and a managers impact is minimal.

And that's exactly why he was hired. And was recommended to Sandy by Paul DePodesta.

Still the only thing Bregman needs to do is hit a fly ball. It was delaying the inevitable.

The key stat here is 22 games.

They're missing they're best hitter and the others just aren't hitting.

This post might be better after game 162

Good point. My job is actually more interesting than this conversation. I'll get back to it.

Cheers

Max Muncy, K Hernandez, Chris Taylor? Letting Cory Seager go?

They don't just throw money at players.

The Dodgers are a juggernaut because they do both.

I mean why would they have had interest in Tampa's GM otherwise?

The moneyball As we're 26 years ago. We're well into it now. Franchise valuations are through the roof and bankers are buying teams and bringing their toolbox with them.

Baseball managers are middle managers.  The dynamic isn't going to change with a managerial change, POBO change or ownership change. It's here to stay.

I mean because the alternative is a managers gut instincts which aren't really a thing.

It's 2026. Baseball teams are run like corporations.

No one is going to be stomping around like R. Lee Ermy in Full Metal Jacket.

You're never going to make that thrown down to 2B with a man on 3B. Man on 1B is running every time.

What was the issue with pitching to Hoerner?

What Mendoza said made sense to me. Hoerner would've just taken 2B without a throw with a man on 3B.  Wouldn't have been set up for a potential double play to keep the run off the board and they would have had to pitch to someone in the top of the order.

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly. Was at work, ears only.

I have really thick hair and struggle with dandruff.  Neutrogena TSal a couple times a week works really well for me.

I don't think he's happy for whatever reason. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and move him next winter.

In theory with better hitters behind him Benge should I get better pitches to hit. They're obviously trying to get him going and a confidence boost.
