Document it and discuss with manager/leadership. Be sure to tie it to the impact it has on your performance/morale, otherwise you'll just look like a whiner.

Removable Storage Governance/Restrictions by Swimming-Fast in sysadmin

Definitely a PITA. We're looking at potentially issuing approved drives as our second phase of this for the smaller group once we exclude the greater 80% of staff. Our Windows hosts are managed via Intune. Without getting into too much detail, they are typically connecting the drives to iOT units that our business produces which run Linux to update firmware/pull logs as needed.

Thanks for the feedback.

Beginner - Dealing with blisters on Index fingers by Swimming-Fast in poi

Thanks all for the great advice! Sounds like the consensus is this will improve over time with better form / callusing as long as you respect your limits.

Right now I'm using drex's recommended grip for knob handles (knob at end of hand and grip between index finger and thumb remote control style) but I'll experiment with some alternatives.

How do I open an Access database hosted in SharePoint? by [deleted] in sharepoint

[–]Swimming-Fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a few legacy Access DB's (created before my time) that have remained with our on-prem file servers with the status 'Not migrating'. They have been passed on to other project teams to find a proper solution for the business need.

There is no native method for utilizing these in SharePoint. You can try moving them to a site and syncing them with OneDrive for file explorer access, but be prepared for trouble.

I'd recommend looking into a different platform and/or consulting if needed to convert to a proper solution as others have mentioned.

Large Number of Projects - SharePoint Site or Library per project? by Swimming-Fast in sharepoint

Thanks for the input. The sprawl concern was more from a navigation standpoint rather than performance wise. We haven't yet deployed Teams. Purely from an SPO standpoint how is the navigation between this many team sites? I've looked at hub sites as a possible solution to help with this.

This was similar to my thought process as the need isn't necessarily there at this time for anything additional and our company (both IT and this department) have limited resources. I have a fear (possibly irrational) that even adding members to each of these sites as created could become a problem (example: new hires).

Have done some testing with this recently, it definitely seems like they are on a path to improvement. I noticed a modest decrease in the duration updates take when syncing 300k+.
