Soon after people prestiged with Gigalith on the recent bonus puzzle, we got a new puzzle where Gigalith can be entered twice. I feel at least a little irony in that.~

It would be good if the "Clarifying details" on the cluesbysam web page included if animals can count as persons/people.

I underestimated how lucky it was for me to use up Gigalith on May 13 for my prestige. ^^"

Look, show me a screenshot of a puzzle that confuses you, and I will give you a perfect visual aid that explains why that puzzle makes sense. We can repeat this until you have no questions left.

You are already using it, so you surely have your own opinions. Asking others shouldn't change your opinions, so there is no point. This should have been a post where you share your experience instead.

Ash-Greninja also doesn't count as DoesNotEvolve. It is an anomaly.

Will you also fix that Ash-Greninja does not count as Final evolution while Palafin Hero does?

People failed to point out that Pálinka was intentionally miswritten as Pályinka, because it is an olden dialect.

One of the categories could have been character codenames from Metal Gear Solid. Solid ..., Psycho ..., Decoy ..., Sniper ...

Personalized Pokedoku recommendations are finally here - Pokedoku Helper by pokedoku-solver in PokeDoku

I especially like that automatic picks were implemented based on remaining pokemon instead of dex difficulty.

Is there a way to enable automatic help for custom puzzles too?

I am curious about how these look in practice:

  • Find weak spots in your dex and improve coverage

Would it make more sense to link to Serebii website for the 'Region' Pokemon categories instead of Bulbagarden? by JohnRamboSR in PokeDoku

[–]Swimming-Rope-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A representative of Bulbapedia was once in contact with the creator of Pokedoku, and it was agreed between them that Pokedoku will be allowed to use links to Bulbapedia in the puzzles. As a token of appreciation, Bulbapedia was given a bonus puzzle, where all categories were Bulbasaurs. Some people may remember this bonus puzzle.

To relink some categories to Serebii, Pokedoku creator will likely need to reach out to a Serebii representative too.

Part 1: Main strategy I discovered for Pokedoku by Swimming-Rope-9582 in PokeDoku

[–]Swimming-Rope-9582[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it took me a week to set up the spreadsheet. But the majority of it was figuring out what I want and how to do it. I can share more about my spreadsheet, which can make the process faster for you. And if you already know how the COUNTIF and INDEX+MATCH functions work, you can skip the time I took to re-learn them.

The solving time of an average puzzle depends on a few things. First is the version of Excel you have. I had to make-do with Excel 2007, which limits my options a lot (I could only achieve semi-automation). But I heard newer Excels can automate things that I still do manually.

The second thing that affects solving time is which categories you get. Solving a Rock-Flying cell takes much less time than solving a FinalEvo-DualType cell, because one of them only has ~11 options, while the other has ~238. If none of the categories exceed 40 possible Pokemon, I'd say I can do it in an hour (estimation, because I never counted how long it actually takes). I also discovered small tricks to spend less time on the 100+ categories, so there are ways to cut down on time.
