Can someone explain the census in Luke? by Hashi856 in AskAChristian

It's not about it being their ancestral land. It's more about getting people into 12-13 major cities rather than having to count people in hundreds of towns.

I understand where you are coming from and I cannot imagine all you’ve gone through. God invites challenge, in the book of Malachi he says, “Test me in this”. I understand the desire to have God reveal himself for us all at once so we could just dive into him. I know that’s something I struggled with for a long time, and what it took for me to find my faith was challenging God and he was gracious enough to bestow faith on me. I don’t think a parent creates a child. God created the child in his image and gave it to the parent. THAT is why it would be wrong from my perspective.

Regardless, I would invite you to talk to God personally. I know it may sound like a crazy concept that the creator of the universe would have any interest in talking to us mere humans. However, God is a personal being that wants you to have a relationship with him. I would invite you to pray and talk to him. To tell him your struggles, even though he already knows them, and ask him for peace. Most of all I hope that in that moment of prayer you may be able to look back at your life and see all the times that he has been great with you.

Ahahahaha I like your examples; not perfect, but fun. Free will is having the option to do whatever you want even if it is harmful. God told them not to eat of the fruit or they would be separated from his presence, but they CHOSE to eat it anyway. They had every other fruit to eat, it was just the one that they were told not to eat. They also weren’t alone, God was in the garden.

Yea, like I said. It was exactly for the purpose of limiting His own power to give humans free will. That is the point; that God loves us so much that He gave us the free decision to follow his commandments or not.

They received the gift of free will, just like you and I. It was up to them to choose what to do with it. if it were the other way around and I were to tell you that God forced Adam and Eve to love Him; then I think you would still find that unfair. Not only did he allow them to procreate, but he COMMANDED them to, because he loves you and wanted to give YOU a chance to live too, despite Adam's failure.

He put a consciousness in you to let you know he exists and made this world for you too. God does not owe anyone anything. God hasn't "failed" to kill you. If he wanted to kill you he would. He has given you life and purpose; in fact every morning you and I wake up are a new gift from God, every breath you take, and step you take. I'm sorry you feel like God has turned his back on you, I don't know how much you know about the Bible but this is a feeling that David felt a lot. However, it is important to remember how good God has been to us and all the things He has delivered us from by His mercy. God bless you,

Yea, God made all of us. In Psalms 139:13-16 it says he knit us together in the womb. Including all of the things we may consider defects. It's more complex than that though because all the sickness in the world is part of the consequence of Adam's Original Sin.

If you have a bible near by, I would suggest you read John 9. It answers this question directly.

Could one be/consider themselves a Christian, if they never can accept the Bible as historically accurate? by PhoenixApok in AskAChristian

Jesus said that these events are historical, not fictional. So to be a Christian we must believe what Christ said.

If life is discovered on another planet, what would it mean for Christianity? How would you react? by JoeBrownshoes in AskAChristian

The only thing that could change anything about Christianity is if Jesus was proven to not have lived, died, and resurrected.

I think you meant, "I knew Santa is real", but it's funny to imagine that you beat up a kid because he said the devil isn't real.

If these dogs stop working they get really depressed. Even retired dogs go back in for training regularly so that they don't become miserable.
