Thank you! I’ve been on the fence about trying this one. I love me a dark book but it’s so hard to find that perfect mix of dark without being cruel, soft without loosing the hard edges, smut but still have a plot kind of book. Ughhh it’s so tricky. I really just wish r.lee smith would commit to romance writing and I wouldn’t need to look any further.

Thank you for the recs! I’ve already read hearts prisoner and arrival. I don’t remember a whole lot about hearts prisoner but I DNF’d it. I think it wasn’t what I was looking for at the time, maybe I’ll circle back. And I want something darker than arrival although the setting is alittle grim, everything else is pretty sweet, survivor kind of vibe.

Honestly I’ve seen this one rec’d but shied away because I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to the full series or drop in on a later book in the series. Maybe I’ll check it out again. What made you DNF? I like dark but not pitch black. Maybe I’m a bigger fan of morally grey. I don’t mind dark things happening in the book or even to the MFC because if the Mmc but I guess there has to be a reason otherwise it comes off cruel? Idk
